For the past 8 years, this has been my annual fun event, with time and position taking a back seat. It becomes a day out, on roads closed to traffic, and usually involves doing a second lap, or helping a few others achieve their goal.

Prior to that I was obsessed with time and/or position. Unless they make the route easier, my PB will not be beaten, so no point trying (besides, I'm almost a decade older than when I got that PB).

The only outstanding item on my bucket list would be a tandem ride with the wife, but it's not on her list, yet. She wants to experience the *atmosphere/vibe, but I know doesn't want to train for it.

*there IS a vibe surrounding this event - not quite like other events, but it is there. Plenty spectator points on the route, to engage with the spectators. Woodmead, Zoo Lake, Hyde Park, the water points, the uphill just before crossing the N1, Douglasdale, Most of Witkoppen Road, Malibongwe, Entrance to Steyn City and the finish, and not forgetting the hundreds & thousands of participants that aren't racing snakes.

Entered and confirmed my 4th 947. Still debating if I must take a easy fun ride for once or head down and b to the wall. Other option is to do it on a single speed which is probably the route I will be following.

On this, what is the official way to do the double lap? Should you enter through a charity bond that has a Double Lap option, ie. LumoHawk? Which other charities offer the double lap option?

I assume you can do an unofficial double lap but then you won't get credited with the completion of the second lap?

I did a double lap last year and they credited both of my times on Racetec.

I didn't enter a second time, just joined the masses and rode.

PS. 1st ride to be had on Saturday, but hey, there's still loads of time to train

Point 1: Nice bike

Point 2: Why not take up a real challenge for charity and ride this beast for Qhubeka?

Point 1: Thanx, super excited to take her out on Saturday!!!

Point 2: As this is my 1st 94.7 (and my longest ride ever), I'm crapping myself already to do it on a SS. And I'm already committed to riding for the Bulldog Rescue Angels

Entered and ready for my 5th. Aiming for a sub 2:40..

1st lap is balls to the wall red mist and then catch a beer in the tent after and then off for a 2nd lap. Did that last year and it was awesome to do it again. Totally different experience.

Popped out the back of Riversands and joined the route at the Main rd intersection. Gave the Kyalami race track a skip, stopped for a tequila in Bryanston. Just generally soaked up the vibe.

Great day out.
