So does that mean 'New Bike Day' for Hairy?!

Will know better after the test ride I have lined up for Sunday and the final price they want .... going to have to "low ball" them and hoping the bike is a "bargain" in "mint condition"

Are you still getting to ride after the arrival of your newborn?

You do know they are a black hole for cycling money!

Hectic. I'm 1.72 and I'm on a large.

I do think the bike is too big for me TBH but I got it for a bargain and all the shredders on here told me a short stem solves all handling woes so I did that. I also have a short dropper.

That and the reach numbers were the same as my medium reign.

I'm with you on the long bike thing. We don't ride bike parks at mach 3.

Yeah... And for me the Medium Reign was way too long for what I thought was reasonable!

hahaha... I think I settled on a 50mm stem. That's short enough! But I only have 780mm wide bars.... i should probably go wider.............

hahahaha I have permission to ride.. My EWC round 3 is already booked and I definitely need saddle time leading up to that. Luckily we are busy following the socials of everyone arriving in Mauritious/Rodrigues for Expedition Africa 2019 so the missus is happy I'm home. A few rides a week is nothing compared to what she is used to!

OOH! I do hope you land up with Jeffsy.....

Ah ... so is that where that "other guy" who was looking for a machete has ended up?

Spoke to BS and those 2 x Jeffsy frames are sold. Power of Le Hub. Apparently they have been sitting there for about 3 months and in the last couple of days they both sold and 9 people were wanting then to get more.

Jeffsy is a great bike for sa ....fast and playful .

It handles the steep trails just fine .... I ride on the cautious side of fast ...at my age crashing at speed hurts too much. Jeffsy makes me feel confident to takle trails I wouldn't have considered before.

where there is smoke there is fire, red hot fire!

I'm glad you liked it.

If you do go ahead and pull the trigger, if you thought it was fun at Hoogekraal, wait till you get to experience Jonkers....

Take tissues or spare undies for the baby paste you will leave in your pants

truth be told, the last time I played at Jonkers was just before the fire and have not been back since!

Any chance you can give a quick review on the frames / bikes you tried in that list? I was looking at the VRX and Smuggler, Kona Process and an Evil Following V1 and the Jeffsy. I've never ridden one but I've seen there are some older version ones for sale locally. I'm looking for a trail bike and not an enduro sled, I'm coming off one of those and (in my opinion) they are not the best match for 80% of terrain around Cape Town. I just find them quite dead and no real urgency them.  Of course you can ride them good any where but for me, and not everyone else obviously, I want a harder hitting trail bike that likes to go down and have a lot of fun while doing it.

Trek Fuel EX the perfect bike for WC trails

It would be a shame if 650b becomes the new 26". It will probably happen in SA, as everyone here is 29er befok. But the new craze of long travel and dh 29ers doesn't instill any confidence that 650b is going to stay for very long.

I have a stunning 2015 Ibis Mojo HD 650b Medium if anyone is interested?
