Just have to add that in Thailand they have mastered the art of the braai, specifically satay, usually a small chicken sosatie, served with a peanut sauce. When I was there on holiday I used to buy them by the dozen from a street vendor. My dad, now retired, still talks of their food, and how we would walk down a street sampling everything from satays to whole fish or prawns braaied on the coals.42b18f72f4dbc07f952f17e71d277ba7.jpg

Nothing wrong with braai'ing on a Weber. This was last year October braai'ing some Karoo lamb tjops when we were on holiday in Oviston.

And this was last Sunday at home. Pork tjops and wors.

Like is said in an earlier post, my braai'ing skills are limited to doing tjops, chicken, and wors, but when I do braai, I enjoy it.

Had some folk come by the next day to collect their leftovers, didn't invite them again. Wasn't just the fetching but the comments! " sure we had more than this......" really !

My comment.....Yes there was more but I deducted commission for use of my braai, hospitality, music etc.

I don't get people who put raw friggen opinions or tomatoes on their braai broodjies.

Cheese and Chutney, butter on the outside, THATS it. Mine is always the one broodie that has the corner cut off so that we can see which is which. So maybe Im the weirdo...

My one son always removes all the relish from his burgers, leaving only the patty and the sauce. He calls it removing the aliens.

I find it most distressing as an ex-Vaalie that this braai draad makes no mention of pap en smoor. Or any decent smoor recipes.

Where are all our Vaalies? Or ex-Vaalies since it seems half of Pretoria now lives in the Helderberg basin.
