When you reach the distance advertised and you still have a couple more KMs to go and no water left. Some rider plan their ride according to the route and profile.

ok now you really just whinging for the sake of whinging. All the information is on the website. there will not be a downloadable gpx file. Does the direction markings really matter? do you know the trails well enough that it will matter to you. Just follow the route marking arrows on the day & all will be ok. there are 5 waterpoints for the long distance, my suggestion is to start with 2 water bottles cause it will be hot out there, fill up & drink so that you have enough to take you to the next wp not finish everything before you have the wp in sight. The fact that you recorded nearly 2000m could really just be your device giving you an inaccurate reading. The advertised distance is 60km's give or take +-5km's, yes i know when you are suffering that can be a lot but prepare yourself for anything that gets thrown to you on the day. Rouxenatator you've clocked 1000's of miles in mtb races of various distances & i cant believe you are being this petty. Good luck,  i hope this year goes better for you.

Okay, I re-read your comments, and those of others, and have looked on Strava for other peoples measured distances as well... (which varies significantly...)

I agree that 5km longer over such a distance might be excessive, but have you perhaps considered that your measurements are also not very accurate?

From a random article on Science Direct on the accuracy of Sport GPS devices:

"Distances measurements may typically vary between 3-8% between devices, as well as the method of measurement (GPS or rolling measurement). Elevation data may vary 10-15% between GPS devices."

I am not saying that their info was 100% correct, but both your elevation and distance measurements are within the normal ranges for these type of devices, and may as well just be a measurement error on your devices.

Part of the attraction is NOT knowing what to expect....

The trails won't be so treacherous and rocky with all the recent rains.

Gonna be lekka.

Keep the rubberside down.

Took about 20 minutes for ER to pass me to get to Stricker whose front skewer came loose a minute before I came to a halt with a rear flat.

Eish, Bru! Heal up swiftly ????
