the nerd Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Depending on the trainer you may require a 26" wheel at the rear. Some of the older trainers were not made with a 700c x fat rear tyre in mind!

I have this problem on my Tacx and after much frustration (and admittedly trying to force a road tyre onto my mtb rim) I actually read the manual. Lo and behold, there is not only the foot pedal which pushes the flywheel up to the bike wheel, there is in fact also an adjustment hand screw hidden neatly underneath which gives quite a bit of additional adjustment leeway. If you have a Tacx then this will solve your problem, if not don't know.

I just bought a 26" rim and tyre (Special trainer tyre) and bob is your uncle, works perfectly...
