After sending the images to the shop they quickly responded and said I must bring it in and they will check with the supplier.

Went home and checked this first... Meh, felt like an idiot. The brake pad is indeed touching the tire! *facepalm*

*expletives* follows

That is why it blew when slowing down. I threw it, very reluctantly I might add, into the bin.

Thank you for all the responses

What does kilometres have to do with the amount of tequilas that I force my friends to drink? Now Im confused!!

8.5 bar (the max). I am 94kg.

I weigh 101kg and ride with 25cc gator skins ,but have never inflated them more than 7 bar .Usually 6,5 bar .It looks like the bead could have been damaged before ,like when you ride a short distance on a flat tire ,or the tire was not seated correctly

Also check that your brake pads are aligned properly and do not touch the tire when you break.  I had something similar before and only realized after a few times that the brake pads were basically cutting the wheel.

Was going to suggest this as well, had the exact same issue on my bike a few weeks ago.

Old school here and it may be a bit of a dumb question but here goes.

PSI?  Is this not pounds per square inch?  Correct me if I am wrong, never to old to learn.

Pounds and inches are not metric or am I missing something here?

Quite correct. Bar IS in fact metric, but not an SI unit. Pa would be the correctest.

sigh :whistling:

kPa = 100 x Bar (when have you ever seen a bike pump marked in Pa)

although its worth asking ze germans ie continental why all thier tire pressure charts are in psi if europe is apparently using the metric system   so i suppose who really cares ^_^

Glad my suggestion won :-)

Pity you couldn't get it replaced though.

Took me 3 or 4 brand new tires before I realized this, even swopped rims, so don't feel bad.  Won't be making that mistake again.  It happens.

Safe riding
