OK, just came back from my physio. She reckons I do not have carpal tunnel injury. I only have a strained muscle in my shoulder that is pinching a nerve. Probably from a minor involuntary dismount I had on Helderberg 3 weeks ago.

I however got a stern talking to because I do not cross-train. She advised me to do more paddling to exercise my lats and other back muscles. My surfskis has been gathering dust and spiders lately.

Mine recommended swimming as a great exercise to strenthen the broken shoulder after my bike crash. And then she said: "Because you cannot fall off your swimming pool and break things" Evil woman! ;)  :D

So, I have been barred from cycling for the foreseeable future. It sucks. My wife is miffed, since she has lost her riding partner.

The physio recons I must first start with walking and paddling to strengthen my neck and bigger shoulder muscles as my smaller shoulder muscles (those close to the spine and under the shoulder blade) are totally overworked.

That really does suck!

Do the exercises suggested and let's hope everything comes right asap.

Good luck.

Well the romance is officially over between the Mrs and I.

She was getting dressed this morning and was complaining her boobs were pointing in the wrong directions. After a lot of pushing and prodding she eventually gave up.

I offered to help and that's when she gave me the "look"

Needless to say I walked away.

Everything now almost back to normal, but I am still barred from cycling. I am gonna do lots of K1 paddling the next 2 weeks at Bazley on the lagoon. Doing the trek starting this Sunday from the freezing Cape.

In the last few years my shaving routine has had to change to now include using a special little hair trimmer to keep ear and nose hair in check.

Talk about getting old ungraciously :-(

Receding hairline is replaced by hair growth in other parts.

Like the back and shoulders.

I have to trim the mane growing in my neck at the back weekly now.

BTW, I have started getting back into the cycling thing slowly. My shoulder is much better now. Did an easy 25km on the wine farms this past weekend.

Unfortunately we came across a bloke about my age that had a serious dismount on the ST at the waterworks. Looked like bad neck injury. Heli had to pick him up. Hope he does not have a permanent neck injury from the fall.

I was chatting to a mate of mine on a ww2 forum when he brought this up.

We got onto the subject of everything going south and forgetting things.

Looks like it has really happened to me
