Hey Guys

Just a quick survey.

Am I the only one having issues with the Garmin Premium HR straps?

This is now the second one I'm using, HR is extremely erratic with periods of no HR or a grossly low stuck value, then it will work well for 30 or so minutes then play up again.

Have tried everything under the sun short of the cutting the strap in half hack. Even that agents cant tell me what more to try to get the readings more consistent.

Current strap is less than 3 months old, which is extremely annoying as I am currently using a HR based training program.

Yup. I tried absolutely everything short of cutting the strap then got some great advice here on Hubland to “reset” the HR transmitter - by reversing the battery for 20 seconds or so. (Who would have thought??) That worked.

Until Sunday...

looks like it’s starting all over again.

TONS of people with issues looking for solutions it seems from what’s on the web.

yup... even with a polar strap currently. However the polar strap is 2yr old and not great shape anymore either.

Still the best fix is getting a new Polar strap and cutting the rubber grommets around the connectors down til it just fits...  It is more comfortable too.

I've had a few issues, but I think I can attribute them to cheap-and-cheerful batteries I've been using. Top-dollar Energizer/Duracell definitely have worked better for me

I'm also really considering doing this, have read a few posts on other sites with people happy with the results.

The bigger question I have is do I just replace the strap or replace the whole thing with another Ant+ from someone else like Wahoo?

I would even go as far to say my straps were / are bipolar some days are good and others terrible

I have had problems in the past with my strap and know several people with similar issues.

I have since switched to the 4iiii heart rate strap and this strap is light years ahead of the Garmin ones. The strap can record up to 60 hours of riding / running time without a head unit, connects to your phone via bluetooth and gives info such as battery life, sensor details etc. and then the main reason I bought it was for it's bluetooth bridge capability - it connects with all your ANT+ sensors and then rebroadcasts their signals in bluetooth format, allowing me to connect all my sensors and indoor trainer to the Apple TV for use on Zwift.
