these are shimano snowboard boots.

they make a binding that is clip in like SPDs, called Clicker bindings, and were done with K2

Work way better than the ratchet ones in my opinion, but have never caught as the pros don't use them.

these are rubbish. They get full of snow and freeze and get stuck.

On a different note,I had my edge 500 for almost 4 years... And today I found out I can load waypoints on it and it is able to navigate through the waypoints.

Do share! I too have an Edge 500.

I tried this:

I created my route in Strava, then I export it to Garmin Connect. I then edit the route by adding course points, for example 'Turn Left', etc.

(please see attach photo).

Then I send it to my device and ride. Worked very well to be honest for knowing when to turn right or left. Might be a hassle to add all the course points, but it definitely works for me.

In my case, I was given a gpx file with waypoints etc. I converted the gpx file to a tcx file and copied it to the New Courses (or some folder that starts with New) folder on my Garmin.

Then switch Garmin on. Go to training menu. Go to courses. Et voila.

I have also now converted my 100km route at home to a course on my Garmin and have copied that file to my pc so I can give it to my mate.

Seriously thought my Edge 500 was not capable of doing that...
