Not transferable I'm afraid. I may be able to convince the committee to transfer your entry to the next event at Contermanskloof.

Thanks so much, I've been wiped out by a virus and pneumonia for 3 weeks now haven't been near a bike in 4 weeks. I'd like to say I'm going to be fired up and raring to go on race day but in truth I can't even walk around the shops without it taking me down.

Noob to the Enduro world...do I need more than 500ml of water to complete the course? Will there be waterpoints/refreshment stations? :)

When you do ride about 20-25kms do you need more than 500ml

and yes there normally is a refreshment table which we'll probably pass on most of the stages

I'm in and entered. Should be awesome. Only thing is I screwed up the choice of batch / start time. Have sent an email a couple of days back but haven't heard anything.

Can we change on the day?

Yes you can!

Bring some insect repellent or a fly swatter.

Yep, the flies were pretty bad on Friday even with a cool breeze. Fine if you moving swiftly but on the climbs they buzz you badly.

After a quick outing on Friday, I have decided to forego the pleasure of my steel hard tail for the race.... The Cobra in particular is bumpy as f..k at the moment. I had an idea that the HT might be better because there is quite a bit of pedaling on Cobra but the opposite was true. A big forked HT works best at higher speeds where the front soaks the bumps and the back skims the crests. Cobra isn't that track IMO.

I didn't ride the whole of the next loop, only the top of Trail Z which is a bit smoother, but not so smooth I think a HT would be better.

I am going full enduro with a softer than normal setting for that magic carpet ride  :D

I rode it last weekend with my 140mm HT. Was crazy fun, but I didnt enjoy the seat klapping me from time to time still would not mind the HT but, think I will roll the dualie instead.

should still be fun, regardless of what bike...

i reckon there will be some locals on their XC bikes, faster than myself and a few others too!

There is fun and masochistic fun of course. Local knowledge is king so I expect an interesting leader board.

I was thinking about why I find Hoogies tricky while slogging up the hill and came to the conclusion that my brain doesn't like the "one line" style of the place. Or maybe I just don't know it well enough, but I think there are very few places where you can get a bit creative.  The Cobra is one track that does have a few lines to chose in places luckily.

o local there has told me, he is alot faster talking the straight line, rather than the off line jumps/features etc, so for racing(fastest time) that would be the idea... however the fun factors would be close, sacrificing a few seconds for some jumps
