I paid my extortion money 12 days ago and after some badgering from my side my parcel is only being delivered tomorrow, apparently.

With Skynet????

He's looking for the docs to confirm - staff signed for it - he said the company logo was red. Does that help?

Might be Skynet. They have a red logo.

This CRC experience with Skynet was one huge ripoff. Received my invoice yesterday and it seems that they charged me with 17% vat and the lousy admin fee. Not going to dispute it because of the long wait. Did the payment and send proof of payment to them...hopefully I will receive my part before the weekend...keeping fingers crossed.

Did anyone notice that the fees on CRC for Express and Priority Tracked shipping is the same. Last time Priority tracked was somewhat cheaper than express. I came to the conclusion that although we chose express it is actually seen as priority tracked due to the long timeline.

You might be right. When I queried skynet why its taking so long, they said it was due to the package was marked economy and was sent to CT via truck. Dont know why it was not sent directly to CT in the firstplace

I paid my fees on Friday and my parcel is still "awaiting customs clearance".

I do have the e-mail adress of the person who send me the invoice. Maybe I should send an e-mail every hour asking when...

Below is a response from CRC, maybe this can explain the red logo:

Hi Marshall,

Thanks for your email. Sorry to read you have had this issue with Skynet.

Currently SkyNet and DHL are both being utilised for our South African express services, but the decision on who to use as carrier is only made after the purchase goes through. The decision is made based on size, dimensions, weight of the order and availability of the courier.

We can only apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks,

Kris

I wonder if you can then request that they use DHL rather than SkyNet, either with a note on the purchase order or via email.

They cant do that, I have inquired about using different couriers in the past.

Also I prefer to use priority tracked over the courier. Works out slightly cheaper and does not leave a bitter taste, as I expect poor service from the post office and then get surprised by some what better service.

Make sure you use the local tracking after it cleared customs, not international tracking.   Mine did not show any updates on international until was delivered, but local tracking showed last few steps

After I saw the amount due to Skynet on the invoice they mailed me - "Admin fee" / incorrect duties by customs etc. I replied to Skynet and referred to the cost / service I used to received from DHL.

They replied that if I wish they can hand over the Parcel to DHL to be cleared again - I was under the impression that customs applied the incorrect custom duty rate.

I asked them then do I still need to pay their Admin fee of R402.50

Skynet replied yes. I first need to pay the R402.50 before they hand over the parcel to DHL.

Decided to just pay and get it over with.
