Want to join Vitality but have a Wahoo Element which still seems to be unsupport. Have there been any further updates on this topic? Any word from Discovery anyone?

Nope. You'll need to use FIT File Tools or similar to change the device to a Garmin device and then upload to Garmin Connect. Completely ridiculous, but that's the only way at the moment.

Out of interest, how long in the past will vitality reward an activity with points? Does the rigmarole of the wahoo > fft > connect > vitality steps need to be done straight after every workout, or can you do it at the end of each week and still have it work?
thanks!

If it works the same as Garmin; it must just sync before Friday.

It can be uploaded before Tuesday of the following week, to qualify for the active rewards.

Thanks guys!
Weirdly when I was searching, Google had cached some text in the vitality faq about Wahoo - let me see if I can find it (got it!). But when loading the page live as is now, it’s gone.

Is anyone currently using a Wahoo head unit and successfully uploading workouts to Discovery Vitality? I've tried the "rigmarole of the wahoo > fft > connect > vitality steps" but no luck. Discovery either does not get or ignores workouts from Garmin Connect uploaded in this way.

Good evening all.

I'm als trying this nonsense now with Vitality.

It seems that Discovery do not recognise Strava for HR monitoring. It is pretty much Garmin or Polar. Problem is I have a Wahoo/Training peaks that track all my workouts and upload to Strava.

I'm trying to get away with riding with my smartphone (this is RSA). So what are the options?

1)Buy a cheap smartphone to run Polar just for Discovery?

2) Get a Whaoo armband HR monitor to log all the training?

So spend more money on gadgets and wear it all?

Putting it out there..

I'm also waiting for Discovery to call me and explain this to me.

Regards.

Had this issue for my wife to get her points, i got an old FitBit IONIC which seemed to work fine but then got a VERSA 2 for cheap and it works perfect once linked - Just make sure the model you get can track and record your ave HR on a session as some of the smaller models track while you riding but dont record it too upload afterwards

Look for a cheap Garmin FR55 and all will be well, they do come up for sale around this time when people grab the Black friday specials.

So.... feedback from Vitality.

You can use Strava for running, walking and cycling provided you use the Strava app to record your exercise. You have to start and finish the activity on Strava.

Wahoo devices are not recognised.

If you do indoor training(they need to see speed) you will not get any points.  HR data does not matter, you can log in and out and get the points.

Seems like only Zwift (with another subscription) and a compatible device are allowed.

As I suspected I have to buy an alternative device just for Vitality.

How long will it take Discovery to get with the program?

You can use your Wahoo with this hack:

  1. Download the .fit file of your workout from your Wahoo to your computer. I do this via the share function on my iOS ELEMNT app. I just drop it on iCloud and then it appears on my Mac.
  2. Upload your .fit file to FIT File Tools - www.fitfiletools.com/#/changer#view - select Garmin Edge 520 (that works for me) and convert the Wahoo .fit file into a Garmin .fit file. Download that to your computer.
  3. Create an account on Garmin Connect - https://connect.garmin.com - and link it to Discovery.
  4. On the Garmin Connect newsfeed page - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/newsfeed - upload the converted .fit file using the upload button (top right).
  5. After a short while the session will push to Discovery and you'll get your points.

I only load those files I need to make my Discovery quota each week. You can bulk convert and bulk upload as well so it's a five-minute-per-week job.

Credit to the guy earlier in this thread who originally posted this hack.

DM me if you have issues.

Wahoo only implemented integration with Intervals.icu in March this year, after many years of their users requesting it. Maybe it's Wahoo and not Discovery. edit: the API was still in BETA in March.

It's related to their API, which Discovery most likely uses as the interface between the device upload and their system.
