I think the best you can do is to accept his offer, pay him the money and write it of as school fees. Maybe ask a hubber from Durban to collect the wheels for you and to give him he's R350 or whatever it is. At least you got your wheels back.

The last time people got this rabid about someone quite a few people got banned. And rightfully so.

If that was the case, why is he holding on to the wheels and not returning them to cycle lab where he took them from?

 

Personally if I had taken the wheels to be checked out and was advised that it would cost R350 to true the front one and the rear is beyond repair, I would have taken them straight back to CL and not wasted money and then advised the seller that was not interested in the deal because of what had been found out.

 

Story to date seems to be (correct me if am wrong)

- Buyer got seller to send wheels to cycle lab on pretense of buying them

- Buyer advised seller that wheels needed work and that CL would charge a lot for it, but he knew of a cheaper place to getting them done

- Seller (foolishly) allowed buyer to take wheels from CL without paying for them

- Buyer is now refusing to take wheels back to CL or pay for them and any other number of stories

- Buyer rather than entering into constructive dialogue with seller to come to arrangement, blocks seller and makes false promises

 

Outcome, Seller says the wheels were good (as was selling them), buyer (for all we know) falsely advises wheels are in a bad state and manages to get them out of CL (who were holding them on good faith) without paying for them.  As buyer is holding on to the wheels without paying for them, has stolen them !!

The buyer hasn't even paid for the wheels, he's free to return the wheels or at the very least drop them back off at Cycle lab and make it the sellers problem to get them back. That the buyer paid to have the wheels looked at is his own decision and loss, not the sellers fault. The guy had the wheels in his hands if he felt taking it further was unwarranted he could have stopped there and then.

 

The previous time there were bannings was because people were divulging private info, all the info posted on this thread is in the public domain.

 

 

Damn right people get rabid, I've been ripped off a few times and that powerless feeling of being had by a distant seller or buyer is not cool, the more skates that get brought to book the better.
