The FDA research paper, is available here..

https://www.fda.gov/downloads/Food/FoodScienceResearch/RiskSafetyAssessment/UCM486543.pdf

  • The lung cancer and bladder cancer risk (hereafter shortened to “cancer risk”) attributable to lifetime exposure to all rice and rice products is a small portion of all cases of these cancers, at 39 cases per million people (10 cases/million bladder cancer and 29 cases/million lung cancer) (see Table 5.3). To put this in perspective, the total numbers of lung and bladder cancer cases, from all causes, are 90,000 per million people over a lifetime .

  • The model suggests that the risk increases almost proportionally with increases in daily servings (see Table 5.9). The average American diet (per capita) includes less than one serving of rice and rice products per day. If the amount was increased to an average of one serving per day, the lifetime cancer risk from arsenic in rice and rice products would increase to between 74 and 184 cases per million people, depending on the type of rice consumed (see Table 5.2). .

I think the more concerning thing is that you believed something you read in the Huffington Post.

Not exactly the peak of scientific journalism.

Their science journalism is particularly weak. I read something, somewhere (will try and find it again) but I think they were rated lower than Fox News wrt to science.

thats legit, you swallow those and a tree grows inside you.

And you might get cyanide poisoning..... - it's true that apple pips contain higher levels of HCN - but - there is no known case I am aware of cycanide poisoning from eating apple pips....

But - there are several of copper poisoning from copper water pipes.....  and iron from cooking pots.... etc etc....

Now the dilemma is whether to eat rice and die or whether to eat rice only and get better performance results at the Olympics ?

Knowing thehub it will be the latter.

This one?

No, but it had a similar graphic, and was specifically regarding science journalism

You'll die if you ingest more than 8l water at once (LD50 is 8litres)

You'll have a 50% chance of dying if you drink 8l in one sitting. Kinda the definition of LD50 that.

A lot of these things are also myths... Like a tablespoon of salt will kill you... Whereas in reality you would suffocate in the amount of salt you need to ingest to kill you

Don't pay attention to it.

Caffeine is a KNOWN carcinogen. You'll die if you ingest more than 8l water at once (LD50 is 8litres) and there are high levels of Mercury in tuna.

It's all about the dose. Yet another clickbait scare article from what must be one of the worst contributors to that in the "journalistic" world.

Just eat your rice.

where's that list of smackdowns to the anti-vaccers that Pierre posted up on FB last night. This rice thing will fit in just perfectly...

Ah, snap.

And here I was thinking it was Mudvayne's debut studio album.
