Ahh much better, I see they also moved the 109km to start before the 40km :). I was planning to give it a skip and rather do an early morning CTCT loop which would be much cooler.

The new start time should work for me though - still going to be hot!

Hello Billygoat0523

We need to talk tactics.

On the downhills get behind me and hold on, for a rollercoaster.

On the ups i will follow you.

Cheers

my main tactic is just to hold on for dear life and make it to the end.  it'll be my first full one tonner, so my only ambition is to finish it.

and yeah, i need some draft on the downhills, my lack of weight hampers me a bit.

Gonna be my 5th one this year. Last time I was on the road bike was the Argus

Won't be hard to spot me as I will be riding in MTB baggies with 1x9 gears  a worthwhile upgrade from lasts years 1x8.

Hi Bikehub,

Riding one tonner on Sunday and then have a kids party in somerset west afterwards, any ideas on where I can get a shower in S/W or Stell? In laws are out of town so that shower is all locked up :(

I think a top tip is to stop for water if you are nearly out near the end, another group will come by, if you dehyrate it can be day ending.

Good thing is the wind does not seem to look too hectic for Sunday, first time in 2013 it took me 2 years to forget. The other good thing is unlike some previous years my legs will be a bit fresher, no STBB MTB this Saturday.

I will also never make the mistake again of chancing it and skipping the Paardeberg lay by water point, cause it's a long stretch from there to Koelenhof. As per the PPA email, do make sure you have enough water.

Still looking at 6+ hours in the saddle though...

If it gets cancelled due to heat I can skip Kromme Rhee and Slaley and just head straight down the R304 to the lower entrance of Welgevonden, my house is 200m from there. Hope it does not come to that though.
