I would love to hear exactly what happened. Did he surprise the elephant and crash into it? Did the elephant actually attack him and knock him down? Or did he just wipe out close to it?

I've had my fair share of elephant encounters on the bike. So far I've had only one hairy incident where I came around a corner and surprised a lone bull. Luckily he got just as big a fright as me and went charging off AWAY from me. Other times they know I'm there but don't mind me

Notice how the oke in green is focused..... probably on passing those in front

Great photo

Think its Nick White in green, definitely Andrew McLean second from back, not to sure front two riders.

Instant brown chamois cream dispenser.

years ago i had the hyenas at Lion Park do the same to me when passing the back of the enclosure. I sh@t myself. I never went back down that road...

Back of Lion Park? They had those brown hyenas. And the cheetah next to them.

"I don't need to be faster than a lion, I just need to be faster than you"

Lion would not have bothered - not much meat on those okes; just a few chewy drumsticks.

Some people would sooner have the person die than have a helicopter extraction.

Yes, Mabalingwe has elephants. I think there are 20 or so. I guess when a couple thousand people are riding around a game reserve its a very really possibility that you many encounter the wildlife?

This is why people ride at Mabalingwe! The potential for thrill is high!
