Amazing stage! Really enjoyed that. I could become a Carapaz fan!

I can second that. When last did you see someone smiling that hard on the podium?

Roglic is riding very smart, very composed. NIBBLES IS getting frustrated.

movistar will now control the race which plays into Roglic hands.

week 3 is going to be awesome. I may have to take some leave...

If you can't break his legs maybe he can break his head.

that's what I think nibbles is trying to do

Me I think it's just a passionate romantic thing. Either way I don't think it'll work on a Slovenian.

Nibbles doesn't have the legs either.

Barring a Carapaz masterclass, Yates ultra recovery or Landa impossibility I reckon Roglic has this. He still has a minute or 3 in hand for the upcoming TT too...

Aaaw shucks Gavia Pass is out of the Giro, new profile for stage 16d133bb4113c5bef221ee5cfbd710f6a9.jpg753a71b700525c7d383bcd26ac637f29.jpg

Bummer, was looking forward to some heroic visuals.

Understand its because of avalanche danger

Yip, seems they are concerned about that and if the ice melts and temps drop that the road would become an ice rink.

Great stage yesterday - the race is set up nicely.

I think if Carapaz goes into the TT with 60s or so over Roglic, he can defend it. Lots of climbs still to come, enough so he can build on his lead. (Even by just grabbing bonus seconds)

The riders will be getting tired in the 3d week, results will also depend on who peaks at the right time. Nibali perhaps?

Movistar seems to have the best cards, Landa can hit out again, see if Nibali and Roglic will work together to chase him.

Roglic not looking so rock solid anymore, anything can happen from here, except maybe a Yates GC win.. ;)

Anyway, looking forward to the final week of the Giro!

Roglic had a bad day yesterday. Starting with his team car having a comfort break while he needed a new bike. Then the crash.

Nibali's game is quite transparent. He loves mind games. Critisise rivals in the press, this then demands a counter from the press who then tie up said rivals in longer interviews. Hit them with emotional stress and then out on the road.

I think Roglic is handling it all quite ell considering he's an isolated rider with no real team around him.

He's also riding very smart, not burning matches and saving himself for the queen stage. He knows thats the day he can win it or lose it. Nabali also has to beat Carapaz and Movistar.

giro always delivers!

Meh. Rest day blues. Swear they do it just to get you glimpse for what awaits when the race wraps up. This is what your days will look like until the next GT, scouring cycling sites for interesting facts, having to listen to the podcasts that you'd saved up because you knew this was coming or actually doing work.

I thought about going for a ride but the gift of bronchitis from my kids has me wheezing like a 90 a day smoker just walking up the stairs!

Even superheroes need a break!
