Its a tough one to navigate, your logic would then make me the winner had i kept riding and the KOM up Tom Jenkins... but personally I wouldnt accept the acknowledgment or the prizes as i know it wasnt genuine and no fault of the peleton either for being directed wrong.

I would like to know how this happened though because when i asked for directions at the split there was still barricades across the road that i had to navigate to get onto the longer route

Yup, the whole front end of the field raced the same route and contested for the win.

Guys at the the back lost out a little, time wise, but they were never in it... to win it.

Winding thought those streets in the city, even though I knew we missed the turn, there was a thought in the back of my mind that we might still get back on course.  But before you knew it we were on the freeway heading into the last km's.

Anyway, if the barriers were still there when you came past, that's a little worrying...

How do the tshwane route compare to the 947 route. Is the 947 tougher, more climbing?

The first climbs before the highway was much more harder than what I anticipated!!

The downhills was crazy fast.

I asked my legs this morning and they confirmed it, 947 is tougher...

Didn't feel this bad the day after Tshwane.

Looks the same to me?  Uphill finish at the Monument?

The Map may be outdated for the 98km... it says we will finish with a ride up Pretoria Main Rd and then a Left Turn with the finish line downhill on Eufees. All other distances are finishing uphill on Eufees coming from Fountains, which is what we did last year. Which would be weird, having finishers coming from opposing directions.

So I suspect the 98k route on the website is an old one. It should actually be very similar to last year: Hold on through the rolling hills in the Far-West of Tshwane and then survive Tom Jenkins.

I'm keen, never done it before.

But I suspect like a lot of other cyclists we are all chomping at the bit to get going and this event will be over subscribed.

Dunno hey, everyone might wait till the last minute to ensure the event goes ahead.

BTW, better start pushing hard on the Edenvale hill.  Jenkins is a monster!!!!!

Going to have to order some big boy legs off takealot and hope they arrive in time. :whistling:

Put some extra bricks in your backpack!!!

I've always has ok legs on Jenkins.  So last year the Universe got all back to balance again - Hit massive cramps just before the start of the climb.  For no good reason.

I quickly had to swallow a quadruple dose of HTFU capsules to make it to the top and not get off to walk.
