We made it as one of the dishes for our family xmas party last year and even my brother the hard core meat eater enjoyed it!

I decided on vetkoek and "mince"..substituting the mince with a lentil- mushroom concoction... marmite is Vegan right as it is a yeast extract..I normally add a teaspoon to mince to add flavour?

Just too hot today for a hearty meal

Tofu is pretty good if you cut it into small cubes, spice it really well then fry it to give it a firm surface.

Tofu us really just a aim base - any flavour you want you'll need to add.

It's good a a "crouton" on soup.

Well is wasn't bad.. . preferred it to the mince version i normally make. ..kids aren't entirely sold on it..say it is just a bit different..but not bad...they would eat it once in a while[emoji23][emoji23]

Just not very filling.. I would normally have only 1 smallish size ..but that left me hungry....I could also just have been hungrier than usual.

Edit.. hubby confirms it is not very filling he had 3 and was still hungry.[emoji848]

I tried tofu for the first time this week (made by a vegan that has it often) - will not be having it again, horrible stuff.

I had some in a salad last week. Also just to try. Was not bad at all.

Think with these sorts of food it is just about getting the nourishment in..not about the joy of eating..[emoji2368]

Well it's safe to say the joy of eating went out the window when you stopped eating any meat.......

Comic sans and italics for those who think I'm too serious.............

Your perspective might change once you realise that "the vegan lifestyle" doesn't mandate the eating of x amount of avos. Veganism isn't predicated on how many avos you eat. You don't have to eat any, if you so wish.

It's interesting how many meat eaters feign concern for the 'environmental atom bomb' that avos are, but haven't sworn off avos themselves.

Show me evidence that a vegan diet incl. avo has a larger net carbon footprint than a animal based diet, with or without avo, and I'll happily swear off avos. Happy reading.

On the topic of environmental atom bombs, how many of you are ready to give up coffee ?

I have never drunk coffee nor tea, and rely on tap over bottled. Theoretically, I am so virtuous I could kill baby seals with pure CO2 and no one could be offended!
