Mosselbay to George off road route wanted.

That is a great route on gravel roads. Road works between Mossel Bay and Klein Brak, but from there the farm roads are a nice ride. Good climb out of Groot Brak too.

Sadly can’t help you with your request as I am old school, Slingsby maps.

Enjoy the ride!

Give Werner Rall a call on 083 444 3748. Really good guy and he runs the George Trails website. He will have all the info you need. We have done the gravel roads from George to Grootbrak a few times. Its really stunning and the roads are usually fairly good. Lots of climbs though and some of them put you deep in the pain cave for a while.

From Hartenbos follow the railway line to the Kleinbrak Station. There is a nice path that runs next to the railway line. From Kleinbrak follow the road that runs along the beach till you get to Tergniet's end, just follow the road up to the N2. Cross over the N2 and turn right just after the bridge into Sandhoogte Pad. Left to Grootbrak, cross the bridge over the Grootbrak river, left again on Charles St which will take you up a nice climb. Then there is quite a few gravel roads that will take you George.

Have a look on Google Maps. Lovely ride!

Two options. Via the farm roads in Geelhoutboom, or the top road through Jonkersberg Plantation. Awesome contour road with great views. I havnt been up there in years, but ask the local guys for specific directions.

Going to Jakkalsvlei is also a very rewarding ride.... craft beer, pizza, wine awaits you. Organise a lift back   .

From Hartenbos take the gravel roads to Herbertsdale, Jakkalsvlei is about 9kays further. They are very MTB friendly, having a local MTB/Trailrun event every year

Slight hijack, but partly the same question:

Will be staying at 8 Bells from 19-24 December... what are the riding options from there, if anyone has been there/done that? Gentle MTB/gravel. I have already booked a day to play Robinson Pass (big-boy-panties packed).

I did a ride to Herbertsdale last December

I took the R328 from Hartenbos. Turn left just before 8 Bells.

81km with 1200m climbing. (couple of lekker steep climbs)

Planning to do the same this year but finishing at Jakkalsvlei. They have showers etc there as well
