But they pretty small. I am not sure what size the 1.5M one was but even the bigger ones and not that big. I recently was interested in buying a holiday place on the south coast to add to my rentals and the agency sent me the rentals till may next year and bar a few days here and there is is fully booked and 90% of the bookings had already been paid for. Did the maths and you can make money by renting them. The only thing I wasn't able to work out was what it would cost to keep a holiday rental maintained and that is what scared me off. There will probably always be something breaking or wearing out etc etc and that I couldn't put a figure to. That then changed my mind as basic maths told me staying so far away would mean extra maintenance costs and then possibly a loss.

my best guess on size of the small ones would be around 45sqm

where exactly are they located?

edit: ... oh, and like the hub classifieds, the price you see advertised in not necessarily the price you end up paying :P

Well done Cat I.

No commuting this week. On leave, however no rest.

Did a survey up in Venda today.

Man was it hot. Had to do a lot of walking as large parts of the project had no roads.

Almost dehydrated, not cool.

Will hopefully be back riding next week!

Fish Hoek Seaside cottages.

It is not a great starting price, but certainly not high way robbery considering you are so close to the beach....so that R1.5M can be a R1.2M offer?

If you look out Blaauberg/Sunningdale way you can get a 55m2 house for R1.45M ..... and this is not close to the beach.

https://www.remax.co.za/property/for-sale/south-africa/western-cape/blouberg/sunningdale/2-bedroom-house-for-sale-in-sunningdale-3070136/

I would also be interested to know what the future development potential is for that site ... if all club together that property could be worth and absolute fortune.

it also has a railway line right next to it.

many years ago before they upgraded the tracks the ground used to shake as the trains came past. Not so lekker in the early hours of the morning.

They are far from luxurious either, very basic.

But they are perfect for me. i always love staying there and it feels like home when I'm there.

As of late those rumbling trains are become less frequently unfortunately

Yesterday I had to attend my son’s award’s ceremony and thus had to take the car to the office.

I would rather face a thousand “South Easters’” than sit in that traffic daily.

I feel so sorry for all those that don’t have the option to cycle to work

I hate driving to work, if I had to drive everyday, I would have gone mad long time ago. I know we not as "safe" on the bicycle but I still maintain you more likely to be involved in a car crash if driving than being hit by a car while riding. Only difference is the damage is a lot more severe when being hit by a car. It's very wet in joburg this morning, I drove today :(

Also took the car this morning - various pre-holiday admin errands, so the rain was a good enough excuse.

I enjoyed listening to the morning radio and catching up on the CityofJoburg municipality shenanigans.  But I forgot how slow traffic is and how many times you wait at the same traffic light. Hopefully back on the bicycle tomorrow.

Not sure about the rest of you. But commuting by bike has made me a lot more patient when driving in traffic.

I am more patient on the bike, for example when I can lane split to the front of the line at traffic lights.

I am way more impatient when I take the  car and realise how much less freedom I have.

Same here.

Maybe because I spend so much less time in the car, so the impatience doesn't have a chance to build up. The 3rd taxi that cut in is just the third this morning, not the 30th this week or 300th this month.

Also a slightly different view on the same routes - noticed this morning how green a particular tree-lines road is and what a nice wide pavement - and then realised I'm always seeing the same road from the pavement - still green, but from a different angle. But glad I'm more often on the pavement with my bicycle looking at the road, than on the road with my car looking at the pavement.

Coming up to a traffic light intersection I hope for a red light so I can roll to the front of the queue and practice my track stands.

It is always fun when on a clapped out commuter and doing a long track stand at the traffic lights when a roadie pitches up on an uber expensive ride and struggles for a second to also track stand, then goes into panic pedal un-clipping as things start going wrong :P
