100% committed on this run way

The landings are even more "interesting"

Pilots really earn there money operating out of this airfield

In the old days it was not built up and a gravel strip

Runway length as per the videos is 1616 feet or 492 meters

There is a reason why there was a gaggle of Dornier 228's using the strip. I have flown a charter in one of them out of Brisbane, sea level, early morning. Under those conditions it practically left the ground as soon as the throttles opened.

Part of the good STOL performance is probably due to the total lack of sound proofing. Ear-plugs were handed out as compulsory kit on that flight.

I can understand why the first 4 were said as it was still early days but the last one is just crazy. We 3 years past his proposed date and probably not much closer than when he said it. Mach 4???? I don't actually see anyone wanting to attempt that. Interplanetary is still a possibility with Elon.

Must have been loss of both engines?

Pilot bled off a good deal of  speed and lucky there was a meillie field to land in :)

They say both engines were lost. RT has footage of birds going into engines. Hectic.

Me thinks the pilot did pretty good job of getting the plane back on the ground.

Gear was still up - I wonder if that what a choice or what? Engines kinda dug in the softish ground / field. I wonder if gear was down, would be a different ending?

Talking out of ignorance here but my logic says that it would have been more problematic with the gear down.  They most certainly would have dug in and snapped right of and the chances of the fuel tanks being ruptured increased and with that bigger fire hazard.
