Electric is coming! Quite a few on show at Paris as we speak....

This is true

But not like that TBM in the article I linked

6 electric motors and the fuel for the PT6 engine in those skinny wings is wishful thinking.

They would do better to start designing from scratch

Remember the boing 737 max.....

Yes boing

I can't comment on capabilities but the Rafale just looks so much more graceful than the Eurofighter/Typhoon.

It's got beautiful lines - I think its my fav looks-wise. They managed to sell a few to India I think.

And a few more to Egypt and Qatar.

Is Mango optimising their load factors at the expense of their passengers?

For the 2nd time in a month my wife has been sent an SMS shortly before departure informing her of a delay.

When I checked the flight stats page on the Mango website I saw the following (see image). It looks as if they're holding up passengers on the earlier flight and putting them on the last flight of the day.

WTF?

Like the taxi that sits at the side of the road and refuses to move until it's full?

Was Lanseria airport involved in both the delays? Wonder if they just over estimated the popularity of Lanseria?

Lanseria this time, ORT previously.

They have 3 aircraft on the ground here in for major maintenance. 2 are scheduled and 1 was an unscheduled grounding. Of the 2 scheduled ones, 1 is almost ready to go back to service. The unscheduled one looks to be waiting for spares. So they could be shuffling flights and aircraft to make up for the extra aircraft on the ground. Pity I don't have any buddies working for them, otherwise I could find out for real.

I think that explains everything then.

Frankly I'd rather wait for a delayed flight than wonder if the plane is being maintained properly.

True BUT if you pay for a ticket at a certain time, you should also be given that. If it happens once in a blue moon then it's ok but in your wifes case it has happened twice in a very short time period and that is not on. Before getting married I worked on the line(moved to the workshop I am in now when I got married) and I did a lot of the mango flights and back then they only had 4 aircraft and they were very seldom late, in fact they often left 5 min early. It was nice for me because the aircraft would come in earlier. Mango often have 50 min turn arounds and I won't lie, it's hard work getting that aircraft ready in 50 min especially if it needs a lot of fuel and has a cabin snag or 2. So 10/15 min extra makes the world of difference.
