Long Wheel Base Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 In my opinion (and i am in the trade) finding 26er tubless tyres is as scarce as chicken teeth...if you have a 26er buy stock. BE advised. The industry thought they can stop 26er move on to 27.5 inch, the only guys doing it successfully is the D.H guys.Sad thing though about 27.5 market is the kids suffer, not all of them can handle the bigger wheel where the 26er was far easier... 29er is here to stay!!!Even online from the likes of CRC? I bought some maxxis tubeless about 2 years back from them. Going to need more this year so hope they still got.

Rush Sports are still bringing in several diff 26" tyre options, and the likes of CRC, bike-discount.de, bike-components.de, wiggle, Easybike, Evobikes and so on all stock a multitude of 26" tyres.

Latest tyres in all the casings from Schwalbe at RIDICULOUS prices. https://www.easybike.co.za/tyres/mtb-26.html Then Continental, Schwalbe, Maxxis... https://www.evobikes.co.za/tyres/mtb-26-tyres.html?p=1 Then CRC... and a whopping 160 variants of 26" tyre https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/tyres/mtb-tyres?f=2258,4294957536 Someone either doesn't know what's going on, or has suppliers who are telling him porkies, or... works at Spaz, who only have the Ground Control in 26"
Rouxenator Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Bought some wire bead Chaoyangs for my 26er at Sportsmans and the very next day order well priced Continental tubeless ones from Evobikes. So tyres can be had, you just have to wait for a good price. Wheelsets for 26er seems a little more rare.

Rouxenator Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I'd change the wheelset to 27.5... but it won't fit on my frame and Manitou fork.
Jewbacca Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I'd change the wheelset to 27.5... but it won't fit on my frame and Manitou fork. Surely you can eke another 27500km out of your current wheel/tyre combo?!
Fruity Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I have explosive power, but it's from the beans...These beans?
Me rida my bicycle Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 OK so getting a 6fatty dual tomorrow to test. It's the only size I have not given a go have even done a ride on CX bike. Looking forward to it those fat tyres looks like fun. Will report back after hitting my favorite loops Hoogies and Conties, that should give me a good idea and can compare to my times on 29r.

Grease_Monkey Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 scott genius 720+I dunno what the tyre/rim setup is - but I wrote the standard off completely when I first had it with 29mm rims and 3.0" tyres with weak sidewalls - it squirmed so much and I ended up running 28/24psi at the end of the day completely defeating the purpose of the plus standard. Fast forward to now with 40mm rims, 2.8" tyres with propper sidewalls - and I love it. Running low pressure - around 18/15psi. So just keep that in mind when riding... if I remember right Scott was at least smart enough to fit nice wide rims, so you should enjoy it thoroughly!

I am not the wildest rider just would like to see how it stacks up to my HT. It's built for playing on the trails 34mm rims tyre's as wide as frame allows. Still need to fit a dropper. I only recently started dropping my saddle on the fun stuff which makes a huge difference all this time I've been missing out.

I am not the wildest rider just would like to see how it stacks up to my HT.40mm ID rims and 2.8" tyres are the perfect setup, so you will be able to run low pressures and actually experience what plus tyres are about! It's not really about how wild of a rider you are, it's about the pressures.... but like I said, that setup is perfect! Enjoy it, and let us know what you think! My opinion is that plus tyres on a dual suspension bike is a bit overkill, but I absolutely love it on a hardtail... PS... take a tyre pressure guage with if you can, the way plus tyres feel is very sensotive to pressure, even 1 or 2 psi makes a difference. And don't pump the tyres up too hard, start at 15 psi front and 18psi rear. It's really lekker that way! Soaks up small bumps and roots like you will not believe!

The Topeak one is expensive, but flippin fantastic. It's the best pressure gauge I've seen.
