Shimano shoes are wide but have a narrow toe box.

It was such a relief when i moved over to Specialized shoes

Spaz shoes are the best

Although I also have a pair of DMT Mtb shoes which are pretty accommodating

I have very wide feet and finding the right shoe with width at the front (as apposed to high volume shoes) a huge problem. Lake and Bont are hard to come by. What other brands can you suggest? Mountain bike.

Hi Eddie,

We are the distributors for Lake South Africa and we would love to help you out with a pair of shoes! You can email me directly on jessica@wheel-house.co.za or send a mail to info@lakeshoes, kim@lakeshoes.co.za

Granted I didn't do my research properly, but I bought Shimano RC9's also based on hearing they were better for wide feet. They are better, but still far from good.

Edit: sorry, these are the road shoes

did you buy the specific wide fit ??

I just got the wide fit rc901 and have no issues, the fit is as wide as my previous R171.

No, thats where I failed. I asked the guy in the shop if there were such a thing, he said no.... Just the slightly 'wider fitting' normal shoes.

Have you given the Spaz shoes a try yet ... they really work for me and my broad feet!

thought they're bricklayers shoes

to quote my wife one morning i went out riding looking like an Enduro bro:: "why do you look like you are going to skatepark?....you are riding a bicycle, try and look like a cyclist for crying out loud"

this....they even had shoes in my size

PS: if i remember correctly...half sizes denote one step wider than the size just under it.

Bought those, best fitting shoe around, and the rubber sole actually grips on slippery surfaces ... also like that the cleat can slide back further than most other shoes too ... also rather well priced .... Spaz know how to make contact items, saddles, shoes, helmets, etc.

If you have the amo look for SIDI Mega sizes, they come in wide and extra wide, not sure how available they are locally. i get them from overseas

Plus 1 for the spez shoes. I also have pretty wide feet and I find the spez a good fit.

BTW, the half size being only wider is a myth... It has roots in fact but no longer true.

Have the same issue. Wide feet. High bridge too. Went whith all the offerings I'd spaz and shimano in 49 and 50 eu. Midfoot pain due to either unsupported pinky toe or toe box side pressure. Called Kim Welsh from Lake shoes measured my feet. Confirmed they had boat sized shoes. Offered no strings attached fitment. I received them fitted like a custom shoe. Pricey. But they are definitely top quality with warrantee to boot. Give them a call. Really pain-free and personal experience I've had.

Give the SIDI range a try. I purchased the broader version that provides a lot more space in the toe box. Think it is called the Mega. Not sure where you based but a few stores in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town stock them.
