I agree the price of race entry fees are getting expensive but then again everything seems to be going up in price and when one starts adding associated expenses like the cost of getting to and from the venue pre and post race refreshments it starts getting prohibitively expensive for the average person to afford especially if you take the family along.I used to do plenty of races in a season but no more I will rather pay for a day permit.

Last year with some extreme conditions predicted, the event was postponed for a few months...

hope the weather holds out this time!

I suffered big time on the 66k the last climb was horrible, with the wind in the face... I was told it would be easier than the trailseeker in wellington last week, it didn't feel like it, but this time I took some time to look at the landscapes and man it was beautiful !

I also managed to fall around the end, one of the fresh berms they seem to have built for the weekend wasn't quite hard enough and collapsed under my front wheel :( All good though !

The 40km route was also different. About 3km and 150m elevation less and skipped the section through the amphitheater that we had last year. Was still lots of fun

Did the 69km and it was the kind of ride that if you could put it in a box, wrap it and place it under the xmas tree it would make a great gift for a true mountain biker.

It really was that good - as it is every year. I held back cause I donated blood Friday but that meant I had a bit more strength for the climbs. The entire ride was rideable - expect for those yet to upgrade to flat pedal.

This ride scores 100% in my books, and each and everyone that missed it really missed out. The money you would have spent on this is so little compared to what you get back.

was actually impressed that they advertised this years race as a 40 km and my Garmin showed 40.2km, which was a nice surprise

My outoppie, nearing 70, did the 40km and loved it. Pretty impressed that it took him only a nudge over 4h to do so.

I do like the new route on the start, a bit more scenic than the old one but the main attraction remains Groenlandberg for me.

4 years ago this was the first ride I did on my '14 Silverback Sola that I just got at the time. Today the same bike went up for the 4th time and the odo rolled over to 25,000km somewhere on the ride.
