The style seems about right - but not that eye-watering accent colour. I had two tone brown.

Wow those are a flashback!

I am pretty sure i had the two tone brown ones for my entire scouting career, pair would wear out and another pair would replace!

Likewise. Shoe shopping was a piece of cake. When they were discontinued I actually needed to apply some thought to the process.

I never got round to it but I was going to treat myself to some of these a few years back:

Nice boots but a bit broad and box like

For comfort and long lasting these La Sportiva Goretex are 20 years old and fit like a glove

Almost due for a new pair.Worth every cent.

Just make sure you go one size bigger than your running shoes otherwise your toenails wont last on steep and long decents.

3 things I dont skimp on...boots,pack and sleeping bag

Would you consider Adidas?

Adidas Men's Terrex Swift R2 GTX:

I have a pair of Adidas Terrex trail running shoes, and I've been quite happy with them.

Very nice.Tried on a pair and they are good approach and light work shoes.

I have a pair of these for that

Before you pull the plug on those, have a look at the mammut kento at mountain mail order. A bit less and great looking boots. Out of interest, why boots and not approach shoes or even trail runners?

Will do.

When doing big hikes especially in mountainous and rocky terrain like Swellies,Berg and Cederberg I like to protect my ankles from rock strikes and prefer my step to be solid and sure and stay put where I put it.Trail runners don't give that and are **** when carrying a heavy load.Horses for courses.I have a pair of Palladium canvas boots for kloofing wet trails like Witels and Malolotja Potholes.Light, drain quickly and are good on wet rocks.

I have the Lowa Renegade boots, £175 from UK on a trip last year. Very comfortable (at last) and stick like sh.t to a blanket, when on wet rock. They do come in a tremendous range of sizes and widths. I loved them to begin with but after several hours I felt that the heel area was a bit uncomfortable. My age and thinning heelpads I guess! Solved with after market gel inserts (to the boot, not foot!) and learning some different lacing techniques to firm the ankle in place.

Wife swears by the common Hitech Altitudes, a great boot for the money. This after spending a fortune on fancier brands that just did not work for her.

Have a pair of Hi-tec PCT boots for when it’s dry but my Altitude IV get most wear.

Had them around 10 years now and just clean them with some leather polish every now and then.

Wore them to work for a few years and now they do 8-15km hikes every now and then.

They are waterproof and great on wet rocks and roots[emoji106]

I also had these. Bomb proof! Had them for close to 12 years. Replaced them with some Adidas terrex boots. Flippen light and water proof.

I love wearing boots because of my ankle that's up to shite. Tried the Hi Tec boots but their soles wear off to fast, got a pair if these Merrells and so far I'm very happy with them.9855691ea75879b7f6a42834752c9238.jpg

The Tibet is a very-very nice winter boot. If your intention is to wear it during the ZA summer I advice you to look for something else.
