Possible to get a sub 3 with right training next year?

Yes its possible to get a Sub3

But you need work on the seeding as well as race strategy and bunch skills.

Speak to your club elders about whats required

I’m 45 and have been riding since the age of 14 and my advice to you from personal experience is to enjoy your riding. I know in todays competitive world it’s not easy, but forget about results and learn the sport. With time the results will come. I’ve so many times over the years seen very talented youngsters get going in the sport with a bang and then burn out completely within 2-3 years due to pressure to perform and then end up quitting cycling al together. At 16 your results are already very good. Don’t rush it.

Depends on weather and seeding, from your stats you are pretty much on track.

Knysna did a 4:03 with my folks.

If you are in anything up to 1D and good weather you have a chance of a sub 3.

Next year I am going to try sub 3 with my old man at age 67!. Reckon with a decent seeding, weather and a perfect wheel to sit on all day it should be possible.

We see this at the SPUR races ....

There are a couple of truly talented young riders !

And then there are some kids that are being pressured to perform .....

fine balance between training with a purpose, AND keeping it fun ....
