Yeah let’s just buy everything from China and be done with it. *** all this agent retailer nonsense. One of my biggest gripes with the cycling industry are these local distributor nonsense. If I wanna import something cheaper from elsewhere, I should be allowed to. Now you support all these LBS, pay more and they can’t even be bothered to give you feedback.

Hope it works for you.

Personally I dont understand why we need to contact the agent.

Then I might as well buy from the agent directly and not have CWC in the loop, or get CWC to import from Shimano and not have Coolheat.

All these middlemen is a bunch of nonsense

Well Cool heat have a minimum R40k initial purchase so enjoy that!

It would also be interesting to know if CWC do actually use Cool Heat for Shimano. I know that they were doing their own importing of Shimano a couple of years ago.

Not sure if it was grey or parallel importing, but either way, they had bypassed the agents.

Does CWC use coolheat, I thought probably ill informed, that they could get enough and buy straight from Shimano Int

Remember cwc is cycle lab and cycle lab does not employ the parallel importing mechanism

Their model was to buy OEM surplus stock.

How this works is OEMs buy more than they need to get a bigger discount due to higher quantity orders.

they then sell off their surplus to their retailers. In countries where they have agreements with local distributors they buy spares from those. Shimano and SRAM have clamped down on this practice

Ah ok.. It makes sense.

It also makes sense that SRAM and Shimano have clamped down on this after they shut down internet shopping imports etc.

Perhaps they get their mechanics who assembled bikes from the surplus stock too.

Another shop ,been waiting 4 weeks for a replacement Crest rim and a new XT Hub

That's this clusterfk in a nutshell, screw the brands, lbs, everyone in that "premuim" supply chain, they want to charge the earth and give just about the same level of support as a Chinese cheapie brand.

So why not bypass the whole shtshow and just go direct, cheaper, faster, and often more convenient.

CRC was one online bike shop that started the concept. They were registered as an OEM. Had a few house brand frames they bought from China so they received OEM pricing from the distribution centre in EU. Being online and the first mover they achieved EU and global reach in a short space of time. i First bought form them in 2001.

I think there was a few people in SA doing something similar to what CWC was doing.
