Mixing Sram Eagle with XTR/XT

So my XO Derailleur got busted this weekend and replacing it with a new expensive own does not excite me, at all.

After digging to the ends of the internet for other solutions, I came across a quite a few posts and videos of XTR/XT derailleurs used with a Sram cassette and even a Eagle Shifter. This kinda excites me a bit, because an XT 12speed derailleur is significantly cheaper than a XO Eagle Derailleur.

Any hubbers with some advise, experience or money to share on my dilemma?

As have I, and there's an FB post by Velo Life where they've paired a 12sp xt Rd to an NX eagle shifter, successfully. Which means it should also work perfectly with your XO shifter seeing as all eagle stuff is interchangeable

I saw that but could not find it again. Thanks for the post. Will find out if that can happen when my NX disintegrates as they seem to do.

What a bunch of crap from these guys. Pull ratio is not the same??!?!? ????????????????

I have a friend who has a Xt derailleur with a sram Gx shifter and a sunrace casset and it shifts better than my full Xt groupset.

I too thought they wouldn’t work together, but there seems to be evidence to the contrary.

A word of caution, they may work together but the cycling gods will never allow it. Expect all kind of act of god failures.

Everyone’s knows that bike kit can’t be simple, where there is one standard and parts are interchangeable. The universe simply won’t allow it.

I mean imagine being at a stage race, and your 12 speed shifter breaks, and you can replace it with whatever brand you can find. Heresy!

I’m running a XT shifter, XTR RD & Sram X01 cassette (10-42) with KMC chain, race face aeffect crankset - 11 speed setup

My latest build is an XTR shifter, XTR RD, Sram eagle XX1 cassette (10-52) with Sram eagle black chain, race face next sl crank - 12 speed setup

Never had any problems whatsoever with shifting. Smooth as silk ????????????????

Yeah, that's never been an issue. The issues have always been with mixing derailleur and shifter brands.

Seems that this is not the case anymore

1x systems have converged derailleur geometry so it's likely that Sunrace is also compatible. Its Nice to know because if you break a derailleur or shifter at a stage race you don't have to approach tech support with a tub of vaseline in hand to get yourself up and running again

Sunrace can shift both SRAM and Shimano 12 according to their marketing material. This is very likely why...and confirm that there's no majick involved ????
