Like DiD said, cyclist riding like chop will only kill HIMSELF (not that i approve of riding like a chop) but a motorist kills other people!

Cyclist riding like a chop can cause cars to take sudden evasive action, which can result in others getting killed. It is not a difficult concept to grasp that we are all responsible for our behaviour, is it?

Actually cyclist are not entitled to their own lane and should stay as far left as possible in single file, according to the laws of our roads.

That was the old law, The road ordnance act of 1977.

It has changed

You guys seem to forget most of the cyclist deaths occur in the yellow lane, which is technically speaking, off limits for a car.

I thought it was an overtaking lane for knobheads who don’t want to wait

then the motorist was too close anyway

So, I was riding in a 100k event / race thingy a couple of months back. Open roads. Twice whilst in the bunch, someone shot out the side to overtake, crossing a double solid, into oncoming traffic, causing all sorts of evasive manoeuvres from oncoming cars. I don’t see how those cars were too close. I was able to tell one of them his fortune.

On a recent sportive, two lads decided that they were turning right from the pack, presumably to take a different route. Out of the ******* blue, they just turned in front of an oncoming car, nearly causing the car to swerve into our group. I don’t see how these cars were too close.

This is the one you need to read.

NATIONAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 93 OF 1996

and then the bits that the Western Cape Government added about three years ago called bylaws but they are very much law.

How many of you have ACTUALLY read the ACT - just the bit concerning bicycles ?????

So who is the afr. box cyclist and how much damage did he do to his bike ?

Talking about trailers.

While cycling up Ou Kaapse Weg south side a boat trailer lost it's wheel doing about 70ks right next to me fortunately it was the right wheel, had it been the left I would have been taken out.

It's quite k4k that an incident like that could've ended you.

But it didn't. So carry on jolling.

And get a mtb. Road rash kills

Look, let’s face some hard facts here.

Anybody who is willing to use their bike as a hammer (TM Pure Savage) and uses it to smash a car doesn’t care about their bicycle and therefore likely rides a Giant.

But on a positive note, we can rule out all the eBikers! No ways an eBike rider could pick up their motorbike and strike a car like that multiple times, unless they have biceps like some of the guys in VA.

Ai Ai.

been in that situation many times. I just pull over till the peloton has passed. I'm not one of those F1 hero's who needs to barrel at100km/hr in the opposite direction.

a race is a race. The organisers must come to the party

.

Two mysteries solved : the Giant was on it's way to Parktown North. Someone on the Hub has the adress of the rider's Boss lady

We can also rule out all Colnago riders - they would have protected their beloved bikes with their own bodies.  :)
