Anyone know if they insure e-bikes? Thanks! Yes JaSure do insure e-bikes.
BrentCGP Posted July 13, 2022 Share Just had accident claim with King Price. They will do anything they can to not pay it seems. Had a RD totally destroyed in an accident, explained the whole situation. She kept asking me how the chain came off. I said I dont look down at 30km/h on a corrugated gravel road and see what goes on. "That is not an accident if the chain comes off" she says.... The chain coming off and getting stuck is what I assume ripped and twisted the entire RD off. Very rude woman by the name of Chané. Slowly started losing my cool unfortunately with her incompetence and multiple repeats (Never had this problem with KP before, they usually very friendly) Gather this is a white chip on the shoulder. They phone back, and want to up the insurance premium before even giving an answer on this claim, so they will not honour it or help. Dont be fooled by their R1 bike insurance on your car policy. I will now look at changing everything. Amazing how the insurance is there every month to take your money but not there for you when you need it. Well done King Price. 1 Star for you. Hope this bad experience with them helps others when deciding whether your bike is insured and in safe hands or not. BuffsVintageBikes Posted July 13, 2022 Share It came off because a stick went through the derailleur of course.... you have much to learn young one. Mongoose!, ChrisF, BrentCGP and 1 other 3

Sadly you ARE on the correct line .... A chain coming off is NOT an accident .... it is mechanical issue, and they WILL say it is a maintenance and/or wear.and.tear issue .... Resultant damages not covered. Going too fast, and pranging into a tree though is an accident ...🤦♂️ Riaan H and Steven Knoetze (sk27)

Similar scenario, albeit harder for them to prove. Should have bashed it against a rock I suppose............ The decline is crappy, but understandable. The increasing premiums is what irks me. Some companies will lure you in with cheap premiums, then at the anniversary push them up. Like a loss leader of sorts. ChrisF
AR SLABBERT Posted July 15, 2022 Share I've been on a couple different bicycle insurer's now. JaSure have by far been the best. Turn around time and ease of getting your bicycle insured. Would highly recommend checking them out. renayg

The person I dealt with interrogated to the point that I told her that her behavior was unacceptable. They are most likely going to reject your claim as they did mine based on wear and tear. You then log an internal dispute because the Ombudsman state that in your case, the insurance must assume the worse case scenario and that could be a stone, stick etc.. once settled, get a new insurance. Tomik Posted July 15, 2022 Share This is an interesting one. It is not damage caused by an accident, I agree. But it is accidental damage. I would assume KP has specific clauses saying there must be an accident for a claim. by the way, I too am embroiled in a disputed claim and 100% agree that you get what you pay for. This insurer (who I will disclose once the dispute is resolved) insists on repairing a snapped top-end frame instead of replacing it. They were close to half the price of Cyclesure but when it comes to my first claim, they decline. Again, perhaps it would have been better to drive over the bicycle instead of being honest. cadenceblur Posted July 15, 2022 Share JaSure is good in principle, BUT don't forget to activate your insurance (many times I realized only while on the ride! - also consider the likelihood of your bike being nicked when you're at home - I thought this was highly unlikely - until it happened - fortunately - I had since changed to a different provider. I haven't checked out car premiums but on my bikes they were a fair bit cheaper than my previous, specialist bike insurer, even for always-on cover. Personally, the on/off thing isn’t the draw card for bicycles (I have used it for phones etc. while traveling) but decent rates + super easy process on an app is a win. RoadNoob6 Posted July 15, 2022 Share My contribution - I am insured with CycleSure and they turned my claim around in less than 24 hours. Granted I provided witness and third-party details as well as the Strava ride of the incident but still, less than 24 hours and there was money in the bank. I was very chuffed and would highly recommend. Steven Knoetze (sk27)
BaGearA Posted November 9, 2022 Share So my bike is now 'Insured " via Naked insurance and it really makes me feel uneasy the way they do it. I don't speak to A person , I speak to A robot that spits out a quote based on value ( well what I say the value is ) They have NO idea what it is ( no serial was taken ) other than A bicycle that's worth X amount , but i was quickly billed for the remainder of the month and Now I'm insured Hoping to see A few sucess stories or I'll be switching to something else mighty quick
