Hi All, apologies if already asked. I have a small tear (20c piece) on my Assos bib shorts. Anyone know of companies that sell repair kits? Thanks Gavin

Contact J&JCycling Distributors in JHB. Assos has a repair service so they may have kits available or can get the panel replaced. Haven't used the service myself but would be keen to hear about your outcome

I have sent my bibs to J&J for repair and they have held up extremely well

BUT and it's a big but, I could have done an equally decent job myself - only sent it to them as I thought I had a warranty claim - (I didn't as I noticed the back up bib did the same thing, my seat post clamp was at fault)

Take an old cycling shirt or bib down to your local tailor/mom/wife/friend/self - tell them to put it on the inside and zigzag the sh*t out of the damaged area and then trim the inside - this is basically what J&J do but just slower and for R300 plus courier there and back

Did you change your seat post after that?

My wife replaced a panel on mine from another bib. Was not torn but started being see through. Any one knows why Assos do get see through on certain panels

It happens to all worn bibs. You will know when it gets really bad, as your mates will ask you to stop standing up and pedalling, as your winking makes them uncomfortable...

Haha as we can attest to on our old club rides

They are specially designed to be see through at the back to create such a terrible sight that it will throw all but the most desperate wheel suckers off your tail by forcing them to stop and take a puke in the bushes!
