I would like to try Hope but I’m super happy with my XT 4!pot whatever model code they are brakes.

Must admit, super happy with the feel and stopping power of my 4-pods.

Just wish that lever dont drop to the bar every so often ....

Next stop would be asking Mark to help ... just wrong to spend money fixing items that are still under warrantee.

+1 for Hope, I have X2 and E4s, one of those superb install and forget components, and the lever ergonomics are magical.

OP, the X2s should be fine for your bike parks with the big rotors.

I'm never gonna badmouth Hope....

But, if you want maximum modulation and power for your money I don't think there is anything on the market that comes close to Formula Cura. I have the 2 pot version on my one bike, 4 pot on the other. I am very happy with both. The 2 has more than enough power and modulation but if you have the cash spring for the 4s. The lever feel on the 4 is much better.

I can go into a ton of detail, but the long and the short of it is that I will buy another set without a doubt when am in the market for brakes again.

All the Shimano's I've had are poo. Same goes for Sram (but they are older brakes, so cannot comment at all on the newer brakes which do look really nice). As for Hope, I have never owned a pair, but have ridden them before - same experience as others, very nice modulation but I find them a bit underpowered. If I am paying that sort of money I want ALL the power and ALL the modulation. They would get a nay from me.

Parts availability Of the Formula Cura  any good ??  ...Nowadays one has to think about the consistency or parts / spares availability in SA. That for me is a big selling point . The other issue I have with the Shimano's are the lack of service kits for the levers. Banjo and cable combos also ridiculously expensive.

The hose connectors for hope are also pretty crazy re price

Formula's back up here is good so spares shouldn't be an issue

Yeah I did the order for Myles and a bunch of us a while back.

I'd ridden the exact pads in my Zees for the first Kingdom enduro back in 2018 through the ultra mud connies and the pads were amazing and lasted a got 6 months post the event too.

Anyway, long story short, we ordered more and tried to get the same pads again. Seemed they were the same, on paper. Turns out they are not, well not IMO anyway. They are still rad, especially considering the low price. But now a pair lasts me about a month before I dont like the feel anymore. That being said, I may just more more sensitive or ride more (hurr hurr hurr) than Moogle :P

Still definitely worth a try. I think we paid $9 for 4 PAIRS of pads.

However, locally now, the Quaxar E-bike pads seem the absolute best bang for buck.

Yeah, I bought some a while back. Sintered and ceramic. I think from kingstop brakes. The sintereds are always fine. The ceramics are ...... I feel like you, change them out after a dozen rides or so.

I’ve never had that happen to mine while riding. I did a bad bleed once and they were super squish but the levers are firm now.

Get Stoked Distribution does Formula. I have had no issues with spares or service parts. They are one of the better SA distributors IMO.

I put a set of Shimano SLX M7120 4 pots on my bike, so far I am very happy them, modulation is really good and stopping power is great, even when I had a 180mm rotor up front they stopped really well, now I have a 203 up front and they are really great, the modulation is also much better with the 203 rotor, and this is with the stock organic finned pads, really keen to try out some sintered pads

So having paid the school fees ... what would you buy, if you had to buy now (assuming stock was not an issue)

SLX 4 pots. The bite point adjuster is a joke on all shimano brakes. Apart from that I can't fault any of the ones I've had.

Thx All. After many hrs of investigation ( Analysis paralysis ) im now concidering looking at the Magura MT Trail Sport set...Hopes are just insanely expensive when upgrading brakes + Rotors..

I have been told the Magura's are great value for money. They also boast a 5yr leak free guarantee i believe.
