We just completed 2 day baviaans race of 68km/day.  I normally carry the bike through the deep water crossings, but ride the smaller ones.  Only lubed the chain before the each day and nothing during.  Chain was quiet till the end and just a little dusty.  Looks fairly clean.

You do get a Squirt Road Lubricant as well. I have been using Squirt now for at least four years. We used it in extreme conditions in Mozambique and in the beginning in Angola. We now have a asphalted road and I switched over to Squirt Road Lube. It is amazing!!!!!. Remember to wipe the chain with a rag folder around the chain while slowly pedalling after the lube has dried. This will remove excess and the little flakes of wax will not be as present.

I used White Lightning previously and Squirt is way much better!!!!!!!

Used White Lightning for years and recently switched to Rock n Roll.  This stuff is the berries - even holds up in the rain and mud we are currently living through in Cape Town.  It also makes your chain really shiny - bonus bling!!

rock and roll

And to think i just thrown the two "cheep looking" bottles I got with my Bicycling renewal in the corner of the garage... Confused

I went and retrieved them now, seems a bit more respect and testing are required Wink

Used Squirt on my old hybrid bike - was ok. Can see why its great for mtbs! For my new road bike i use Finish Line Dry Teflon Lube. Very happy with it. Lube after every ride - over lube it, and then wipe it all off.

Had to switch to Squirt when the White Lightning factory burned down.  I wil NEVER go back to WL, Squirt is way superior and at least lasts a few rides unlike WL.

Also heard that rock 'n roll is the mutts.  Will have to give it a go in the wet!
