Anyone else had issue where the Carbon Leaf "tension plate" on one (or both pedals) wear out?

This is the second time my left pedal stops engaging due to the carbon spring/ tension plate no longer providing enough resistance.

Left one as I obviously unclip and clip in more often on that side

Is it possible to just replace the worn out part or is it new pedal time? (I see you can buy replacement parts but I can only find those for the Blade 2)

So I have those blade 1s on my tandem and have the blade 2 on my single bike. No issues on the blade 1 but I did have an issue with my blade 2s. I bought them through CRC and tried a warranty claim but due to their uselessness and not responding to mails until I threw my toys out the cot the period expired while the pedals were in the air on the way back to them. Once the eventually sent them back to me I contacted the local LOOK agents and sent them pictures and videos and they were very willing to try assist but meant me sending them in again to be assessed so I thought I would remove the blade myself and have a look and the issue was a silly little piece of road gravel that had go caught in between the blade and the body of the pedal preventing the blade from keeping proper tension. Removed the little bugger and put the pedal back together and it is perfect again.

I don't think you can have this issue on the blade 1 as the blade is so much narrower but maybe look and see if there isn't something stuck under the blade. They are really easy to remove(well the blade 2 is, I haven't stripped my blade 1 before)

It's very easy to clip out, pops out with minimal force applied.

Cant see any dirt , ect logged in the pedal

it was a common problem with the Blade 1.0 hence the updated design. The blade is just too stiff and delaminates.

The broader blade in the 2.0 is better able to handle the tension and lasts a lot longer.

For reference, The carbon blade in my TIME Espresso and its Mavic rebrand have never been replaced in over 8yrs of regular use

The LOOK product defect you describe has been reported: https://www.saferproducts.gov/PublicSearch/Detail?ReportId=1252268

"look keo blade pedals: The cleat tension spring broke while in use, causing my left foot to come loose from the pedal while accelerating. My left leg hit the crank arm and received a small laceration. I almost lost control of the bike. The springs on these pedals are made of carbon fiber."

The workmanship and ride quality of SHIMANO is superior. Stay safe.

stop spamming the old threads

6 months or even one year is not "old" by my standards. have a nice day!

it's the second thread you went onto with the same complaint, we get the message you have a personal issue with LOOK pedals and are trying to convert to world into using SHITMANO.

most of these are american, go and "influence" your own maatjies and leave the SA forums alone

Hey, anyone knows where I could find this locally ? (meaning not spending R600+ for shipping ;))

Look Sheets Kit Pedal Keo Blade2 12

https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/en/look-sheets-kit-pedal-keo-blade2-12/136483517/p?queryID=4c76d979b9c1f117f747fa842333faa8&buscador_search

Haven't found on my normal go-to sites (evobikes, cyclelab/cwc, olympic, eastcity,...)

The things at the back of the pedal are very worn :

which gives quite a lot of float.. will try swapping them but doubt it will be a good solution..
