Eish! I am surprised the race actually went ahead at all!! In my honest opinion the responsible thing would have been for the event organisers to call it off on Friday evening - it was obvious for anyone with a weather app the probability of heavy rain was unacceptably high!

Only 20 finishers at the top, and a further 30 at the relocated finish. A good few DNF, and I suspect a mass of DNS (although obviously not visible on the results sheet).

The more I hear about it the more I regret not going 🤣 Sounds like a gravel race more than a road ;)

Rock and a hard place for organisers. Especially given that the weather turned out better than predicted.

If they cancelled on Friday we would have a long thread on Monday on how organisers are greedy money grabbers who will take your money and cancel on the slightest excuse.

Welcome to Cape Town.

Nothing much came of the severe weather predictions.

As an earlier poster noted, only a bit of rain during the last part of the race.

Change of season .... weather predictions are pretty useless in the Cape

need to do this race at some point, although with the big climb at the finish it would just be a glorified training ride for me as I have no chance to hold onto the 60kg lightweights...
