My 2 dead presidents: the mech who built the wheels over tensioned it. Wheels only crack like that if the load are too much ????.

I actually came here to say the opposite...

Wheels usually crack like that when they are undertensioned as spokes flex continuously during a ride, both vertically and horizontally.

Everytime the spokes flex they tug on the nipples which are obviously tensioned against the rim bed.

As you can imagine, if there is not enough tension on the spokes they will flex too much which means they will pull on the nipples with greater force therefore eventually pulling them through the spoke holes which starts with the cracks seen on the original posters images.

This is most likely just an anomaly which I'm sure Specialized will sort out in no time at all.

This is what a brand new set of Specialized wheels did after a 5km ride.  I don't know which model this is.  Shocking!!!  As far as I can see, only the rear whe cracked. IMG_20211028_205144.jpg.4c7ca50ce563b76edeff2a411975fa9b.jpgIMG_20211028_205137.jpg.8e6cd016d28ed50e533625bdfe718280.jpgIMG_20211028_205132.jpg.3c6894090c55001b38cfe982c9a2d0e0.jpgIMG_20211028_205125.jpg.7c50585687962fd82cc258dba4331fb2.jpgIMG_20211028_205112.jpg.70bd842655a359a6e55be161607dd379.jpgIMG_20211028_205105.jpg.4175839bdec1c1512183d5206915c76d.jpg

P.s. I only weigh around 74kg.

The wheel in question is the Roval Traverse 29" alloy.  Just received the new replacement rim today.  Great service from the shop.

Hope for the best...

I once saw a mates parrot destroy 2 bic lighters in a row...In a matter of seconds....No worries from the parrot when the gas came whoosing out...
After that I decided to never piss a parrot off....(before this I didnt realise how hardcore a beak can be!)
