FondTF2 Posted December 3, 2021 Share With all the non cycling forums being deactivated and searching for any previous threads that cover the Covid Recovery and getting back on the bike, I hope that I am not duplicating any previous threads that may exist. So having succumbed to the dreaded Covid and only on day 6, I would like to know from other Covid sufferers what there getting back on the bike process was? Being fully vaccinated, symptoms are thankfully quite mild in Covid terms, more of a severe head cold than anything else. That said, I can definitely feel that the body has taken a major knock as just the simple task of hanging up washing, washes (no pun intended) me out. Underachiever Posted December 3, 2021 Share I also had mild symptoms You need to take your comeback very seriously. But each person is different, but be conservative. I took 3 weeks full rest after from day zero. Then started with low intensity 20-30 min rides. For me this was 145-150 bpm max, 135 avg. Every 2nd day. BUT if my RHR spiked vs historic trends, I took another 2-3 days rest. This carried on for another 3 weeks until my RHR fell into the trend pre Covid. The next 3 weeks I started ramping up volume to about 80% from normal, but kept the intensity relative low. Good luck FondTF2, Comrade J and _David_
Danger Dassie Posted December 3, 2021 Share Take it slow, take your time. Need to give it a few months. Better yet, consult with a GP on this. Yours is not the only case and a medical professional will be able to provide a far more grounded solution than any Internet forum. Even if you get a second/third etc ... opinion Underachiever, _David_, ChrisF and 1 other
_David_ Posted December 3, 2021 Share I had it in July, mild symptoms took me about 6 - 8 weeks to get back to normal. Underachiever and Dexter-morgan

DieselnDust Posted December 3, 2021 Share First thing to do is have a thorough health check done about 10 days after symptoms abate. based on that assessment you can either return to normal training or have to follow a recovery program. For now let it run it’s course and see where you are at the end of it FondTF2 and Underachiever 1

coppi Posted December 3, 2021 Share I had it in January, hit me hard and was almost hospitalised..............simple tasks took effort and was out of breath quickly ! Waited about 2 weeks after I was all clear before I started very slowly, initially just a cruise around my hood and then slowly built up within a few months. Listen to your body and don't rush it............. _David_, DieselnDust and Underachiever
