I've got some black esi grips that are about 10 months old and have started going white/yellow in colour from sun and sweat. I have tried cleaning them with brake cleaner and shop towel but although it does work, it takes forever. Anyone have any other methods of cleaning them? I have heard that there is some type of acid that works, but don't know which one.

handy andy , a sponge or micro fibre and lots of elbow grease

If you allow the chemical time to do it’s work, then apply some light pressure, the elbow grease is not required.

Using a clean rag or soft brush. Hot soapy water and sunlight soap. Or almost full strength bike wash like Eco Logic/RedHot/Squirt/MucOff etc

Using heavy chemicals and aggressive brushing will just break the grip down. Absolute worst when seeing those bike washes jet cleaning grips.
