Digital tire pressure gauge

I'm interested why a digital is necessary? i know you can get supercompact digital ones at any 4x4 shop, yes it is schrader but the valve adaptor is R10.

Maybe because we are losing the ability to read analog devices?

Or because the OP has far looking eyes and arms that have become too short. 

Or maybe the perceived accuracy of a digital gauge that is what's is desired?

Had the Pro. The rubber thing ont he front goes then you chuck it in the bin.

The Topeak is tiny. Are there any analogue ones comparably small WITH small enough head to fit on the valve next to your shock, or fit inside the radius of the valve on your fork? If so that owuld be BETTER IMO (if not rubber gasket thing on the head like the Pro) as no battery etc. Again...accuracy (actual number you read) is not important really, but precision (repeatability) is.

Can you replace the battery on the new PRO ones? The old ones the battery was soldered to the board. On principle I won't buy anything that's deliberately engineered to be thrown away.

Indeed it can. I checked, because I've had this question before. 

I agree, single use tools are stupid. Especially if it was engineered like that.

Why don't you just use the gauge in your shock pump? If it's out, you need to pump it anyway.

It gave stupid readings , then just stopped working. Replaced the battery and then it spoke Klingon. Took it back to the lbs and they said no warranty I broke it. Claimed i used an unapproved replacement battery which was bs.

so then I did break it. Not my finest hour. My 15year old Topeak gauge has been faultless. I treasure it. It works, and I check it against a calibrated gauge every now and then.

reminds me of a lady that came in when I was at Volvo.

Her car remote stopped working, she replaced with a coin battery she bought from clicks. But still had issues with the keyless entry, another dealership told her its because she did not use a Volvo battery. hahahahaha.

B.T.W. regarding battery replacements on car keys, if your key uses a coin battery rather just go to dischem or clicks and buy the battery. You'll likely get 2 or 4 for under R60, but a car dealership will be over R100 for one.

My wife was quoted 350 ronds at Hyundai - got a pack of 4 from Dikskem for 60 ronds and it took less then 5 minutes.

I have a selection of these gauges and, of the digital ones, the Topeak is the best; the other two barely lasted 3 months. Only little grumble is that the Topeak under reads a little I think, particularly at low pressures (I really only need a gauge that goes to 3, maybe 4bar max, most pressures under 2,5bar).

Again, only an issue for 4x4; 1bar type pressures where you need 1bar but the Topeak gauge reads 0,8 so you have a smidgen too much pressure (compared with a 4x4 groups' gauges). Believe me on a dune that 0,2bar makes a difference!
