mudda Posted November 8, 2022 Share So the entry fee was around R440 How many cyclists do you think entered ? last number was 7000 so lets say 3500 entered, that would be 440*3500 = R1.5 million probably more than that ... I guess it was a big pay day for just printing some race numbers ...
ScoobykingZA Posted November 8, 2022 Share Absolute rubbish this. I did the 2021 (Rayton/MX Legends) event and must say after that, won't support these events again. This just confirms my suspicion. Sorry for the guys who lost out. Sucks for the sport and unfortunately it leaves us with very few regional events.

The Metro bill was a little over R500k, so 440*1000 is less revenue compared to the Metro bill.
Mongoose! Posted November 8, 2022 Share So is this "Metro bill" still payable? / or paid already? Refundable because it did not happen?
agilwolf Posted November 8, 2022 Share It was not paid as per official statement from Metro. I believe some news reports indicated that some Metro Police officials was at the start line on Sunday, waiting on the event. Obviously they did not get the SMS we did... ( as opposed to asking for a refund as you didn't feel like riding anymore)? My SMS said race has been postponed. Hectic plays it safe here by saying postponed as oppose to cancelled. Club event has so much goodwill in people involved, where as a business wants to make a profit on each event as clearly shown with this event. I hope Hectic Promotions do the right thing around this event and refund the cyclists or give them a credit for a future event? Vetplant
FaizelSalie_01 Posted November 8, 2022 Share Just a thought, where is the daily license fee of R50 going to CSA? Should CSA not refund those R50 to cyclists? ChrisF, Phillippe Coetzee, Spirog and 1 other

Frosty Posted November 8, 2022 Share I have sent a message to Gauteng Cycling to keep the communication open with the public; even if it is just to say “we are working with the organiser and will give feedback”. What I mean is did CSA even get the money from Hectic? I assume its usually paid over after the event once the numbers are finalised & paid for, ChrisF
