I gave up on MyWhoosh and am just paying the money for Zwift, which actually works.
Spending money on hardware to run a free program didn't make sense.

Paying for Zwift during the rainy months made sense.

For the rest of the year we all searched around for alternate options .....

Eventually got tired of sensors dropping mid ride with MyWhoosh.

IndieVelo just WORKS !!  To the point where I am not sure I will even switch on Zwift next winter.

I actually went from zwift to mywhoosh because its free.. I kind of prefer it anyways.. it runs smooth on my entry level macbook air and mirrored onto a tv with a tacx flux S trainer.. it all works well together..👍🏻

I would have been there if I have the hardware to run it.
My old tablet wasn't up to the task.

Ive never experienced this with it.. there is a delay.. about 3 seconds i think.. other than that it runs flawlessly for me..

It does chew up the battery more than zwift.. i mean, they powerful programs..

but im still very impressed by it all.. paid or free, its all very impressive stuff..

I've contemplated getting a Asus ROG Ally, and a docking station to connect it to my monitor, that I can use to run IV/TrainerRoad/Zwift/Rouvy/MyWoosh/whatever, plus I can use it to game occasionally.

It would be faster, GPU wise, than the current full-sized PC taking up half the table, and portable.

A new Android tablet with enough power to run these apps at the same speed, would cost the same or more anyway.

Just couldn't get it to work tonight. Woosh would just bomb out after 5min. After the 3rd time I called it quits. Tried Rolla but it wants me to download some or other app to do a virtual ride..... Couldn't find Rolla world or whatever it's called in the Android app store. The Rolla screen reminds me a little of pictures of the Karoo (the cycling computer obviously) screens......

Try IndieVelo 👍

Hmm, the Note9 is (theoretically) a little bit slower than my tablet, which occasionally crashes with iV. I suppose at some point our devices become just too old :(

Once you get Rolla downloaded, it's a lot more intuitive than the other programs.

App on your phone, and on your smart TV, and off you go. Takes a bit to figure it all out, but even me could get it going without too much swearing.

At this stage quite restricted to number of routes, but what's there is sufficient for general fitness riding.

I'm only using Rolla now, deleted the others.

There's a rumour floating around that Tadej Pogacar will be taking part in the e-sports worlds. Imagine have a virtual AND IRL rainbow jersey?!? Bananas.

Someone who can really hold 7w/kg ripping past you.

Sagan and Pogacar will be in attendance, not partaking.

I don't think the online races are long enough for the World Tour pros to have an advantage.

Lots of the riders doing the virtual races can legitimately hold high watts up a climb... but not after already having done a hard 150km before that.

Anyone else experiencing terrible connection drops on MyWhoosh lately

Been trying to use the new Pacer feature its an absolute Sh!tshow - one minute you in the group then next you way out in front, then back in the group and then way off the back and eventually dropped.

Every session this week i started in MW and ended up shutting it down and going back to IndieVelo .

I'm using Ant+ connections through a serious windows gaming laptop so my hardware is fine

I had enough of that nonsense .... IndieVelo just WORKS.

Same hardware:

- Zwift - it WORKS  (just a pity about the exchange rate and resultant costs)

- MyWhoosh - issues and more issues ... spend stupid amount of time at night, system seems fine.  Tomorrow morning during the ride it drops again ...

- IndieVelo - it WORKS

No idea if this is a PC issue, or a Win11 issue, or whatever ....

I've been using BikeTerra this week, which allows gpx routes to be uploaded; Rouvy used to offer this,  and stopped the upload of custom routes). Nothing wrong with indieVelo, but I do like the idea (when needed) of doing some intervals on route specific segments.

It integrates with TrainerDay, Athletica and Intervals.icu (training plans/workouts), as well as a Strava upload for completed rides. It's web-based, so any device that has a browser and Ant+/BLE connections can run it. Not the prettiest graphics, but it's free or $5/month.

  • Free allows 1 upload (and 4 revisions) per month
  • $5 allows a lot more.

This is the second half of the highveld edition of the fun ride world champs.

I should test this for my wife. When Rouvy still allowed it, I would have to upload the course of whichever event she was preparing for (ex. Amashova 35km) so she could ride it over and over and...

After this week i'm in the same boat - My first challenge everyday is getting motivated to get off my fat @ss and on to my trianer and then having to reset and start again on a complelty different platform just makes me grumpy.

And you right Indie just works, i've only had a couple of instances of a power drop where you stop pedaling and you can see on the power graph its zero, but that only lasts about a second or 2 and you off again

Just wish i could distinguish between who is a bot and who is actually human - I always seem to be riding with female riders which does my ego good 👀 but then realising they all bots is kind of deflating 😁
