I'm doing l.s.d. rides at the moment, so decided to take the cyclepath to Melkbos and back, starting in the Southern suburbs. Saw some great moms & dads riding with littlies, one even with trainer wheels, it's never too late to start training, is it? I checked out the guys at the Paarden Eiland fleamarket bike workshop, they sure know the meaning of entrepeneurship. Lastly, I got p-d off that there are mindless idiots that could remove the metal cover from the ditch across the cycle path right on top of the train bridge next to the N1. City of Cape Town, please replace it A.S.A.P. because it is a disaster waiting to happen.

Grew up there ...thought it was just outside Vredenburg on your way to Saldanha. We used to call it Paddebek grotte. :)

Beautifull day in the Western Cape to be outside.

Eish, hope you heal up soon.

It's amazing how those pesky trees just jump out into the middle of the trail!!

How far is this outside potch and how do I get there? Any entry fees?

14km outside Potch on the R53 (Parys road) on the left hand side. As you go underneath the big power cables, around 1km further there's a gravel road on the left that you turn into, it splits in 3 but there's a board that says Tarentaal Track & Trail, drive around a further 4km on the gravel road then you get to the farm. It's a decent route. There are 2 - one is lekker technical/rocky and the other is not so much. But even if your wife wants to ride the not so technical route it's cool as you can see each other no matter which route you are on cause it keeps joining and splitting.

Cost for the day per person is R30.

It's a privately owned farm but anyone is allowed to ride there. Just notify the owner before hand. You may phone him (JD) on 084 500 4221 or Paula on 082 555 3760.

Definitely worth it if you live in this side of the world.

a Viewpoint about 50km out of Knysna on the Karoo to Coast road (to Uniondale). Its amazing to stand there and see Plett on the left and Knysna on the right in one view.
