I called the Koeberg Nature Reserve contact center today who advised that the trails are still closed and that they will only know by the end of June 2024 if it will re-open or if the closure will be extended :(

I've emailed and phoned Koeberg to check when permits can be collected, and they've confirmed that permits can only be applied for AND collected from 2-4 pm Monday to Thursday. While somebody can drop off the application, you have to collect it in person.

They sent me the revised notice, and Stella says they won't be there on Fridays.

This is effectively denying access to anyone who works full-time in an office. Can we do another petition?

I cycled to the gate last week from the Duynefontein side and tried via that entrance. Security guard had no clue what I was talking about even when I showed him the notice you guys shared here. Haven't phoned the number yet.

At Melkbos gate I was told last week that they're still closed. There's a little water left. I told him we have MTB's. He didn't quite catch that. In any case, after the rains this past weekend, I assume it will remain closed until October....

Any updates ? Wondering if it's worth doing all the nonsense process to get the permits for the fam to ride there during the summer holidays

I met a chap who works there a while ago and he also said the excessive rains this past winter did a number on the roads with huge sections completely flooded and this was the reason for the delay to reopen. At the time, about mid October, he said it was still soft and soggy in places and they were assessing it.
