Mugging on N1, 1 December 2024 6am

drove past today, every time I drove past recently there was people sitting under one of the sides of the bridge... I've got a session tomorrow to do there... not sure if we'll ride or drive...

Cant do anything to somebody sitting under a bridge ....

 

Yet they have the whole day to scout for the absence of enforcement and a lone cyclist ..... or a small group if the days pickings were slim ....

 

 

With zero political will this wont get resolved ....

Just got confirmation direct from the horses mouth that there was another attack this morning, luckily rider stayed upright and managed to get away.

Apparently there was a patrol vehicle stationed there in the week but they obviously not there all the time and not everyday. Those that got through unscathed can count themselves lucky because the Robbers MO is hit you, run away to hide the stash and reappear +-30mins later when the scene is clear to target the next victim.

So we're going with a car following us, we'll jump in the car just for that section... The things those thugs force us to do...

Came through there today around 10:00, met up with some other riders at the waterfront, who were intent on going through town, but opted to ride with us , we went over the bridge though, one of them went down the N1. There was a metro police vehicle behind us though , not sure if this was just a coincidence

we drove past on the way down, and tagged along on a huge group on the way back today, my first time there in 3 weeks. Sad... I've got to go through there saturday sunday next week. I'm actually really hoping something happens, someone braver and angrier than me goes trap them and moer them would be nice, since authorities aren't going to do ******* about it

tried the amazon bridge detour this morning. 38 mins from blaauwberg road to the bottom of kloof, not too bad in terms of time, but lots of people walking on the interchange, then on the road in maitland, salt river and woodstock. Didn't feel much safer, and there's tons of robots, all of them red this morning, don't like to stop and be stationnary when I already don't feel safe.

Then on the way back we took the n1 (we were with glock-man 😅), it was dodgy AF, never seen so many people walking along the n1, I would have definitely turned around if I was alone.

Situation isn't evolving there, at least not the right way (seems to be getting worse). Gonna be driving again to town sunday as I have 20mins efforts, then I'll just train on Tikkie, it's just not worth it.
