Thanks everyone for all the advice, just finished a fantastic ride at Bloemendal. Sitting here sipping a coffee at the parking now. Thanks to all the guys I met at the trail this morning that gave me directions, and especially Eric who rode with me up to the Mast at Contermanskloof.

Also rode magic forest. You guys here in CT are really lucky.

We complain a lot, guess its also just complacency, but yes - we forget we are lucky with what we have available on our doorstep….and tygerberg is just a scratch in the surface. If you get bored you just choose another trail network and go.

Hey guys, planning to go ride at Tokai tomorrow morning, about 6:30am. Any advice?

I know it's short notice, but if there's anyone that would like to join me. Let me know.

Hey guys, I had a spectacular ride at Tokai on Wednesday. Rode up to the top of the jeep track heading towards 'Silvermine', crossed paths with a guy that told me about the climb to the masthead, so took one the downhills to take me back to the main jeep track and rode up to the masthead as well. Never climbed like that before in my life, but what an achievement it was getting to the top.

Then coming down, the downhill sections were incredible, had the time of my life.

Thanks again for all the advice. Spending a week on the garden route now and looking forward to doing some riding here as well.

I hope I don't get flak for this, but I didn't get a permit, not even sure whether I was supposed to...😬 I went in and parked, took my bike and rode. I didn't see anyone with boards or read anything on the sign at the entrance that said I needed a permit.

I started at 6:30. I met a few other guys on the trail and they assured me that it was pretty safe to ride alone.

For Bloemendal you definitely need a permit.

Enjoy

Hi Joe,

We are planning on doing Tokai tomorrow.  Did you get permits at the gate or online? What time did you start?

Day pass at the gate to the parking. R100 or thereabouts.

You're lucky SANParks didn't break your arms. Ask Nic Dlamini what happened when he tried that.

I would rethink riding Tokai tomorrow as the wind is forecast to be near gale force all day. The better option looks to be anything Stellenbosch side. Nothing along the peninsula or Tygerberg way is going to be any fun tomorrow.

That aint no joke !!

Bellville to Stellenbosch was breezy this morning.  Once over Helshoogte it was a perfect day !!!

Coming back .... ouch !!!!  With 120km in the legs the South Easter along Bottelary was proper high intensity training .....

This is why I spent the morning on the beach at Melkbos with the family. Tomorrow sounds like some Jonkershoek is in order.

Yes. Dual use so watch out for hikers and runners.

Can't speak for that trail, but Tokai isn't fun in gale force winds. But then which trail is?
