A buyer on the hub who calls himself Derrick Jay tells you he is away on a business trip but really wants your bike.  Hardly any questions.  Then when it comes to payment says he can only pay into a paypal account.  I told him i only accept payment into my bank account.  But what he would do is send a link to paypal account, and if you click on that link, you've been hacked.  His phone number is  +27 84 382 8980.

Are there any mechanisms on this site that would alert users to this person?  I guess he can just change his name and number and carry on.

Did the buyer send you a message on the bikehub or did he contact you directly via whatsapp or whatever?

"hacked" Please explain?

By clicking on what you thought was a link was actually an invitation.. What you’ve actually done is granted access to your network for a foreign device.. that device can now take a look  around and grab whatever info they want from whatever device is on your network.. simple python code will pretty much just systematically search and download your files to its own server to be reviewed and used later..

and onto the next sucker..

Thanks for reporting this.

We’ve flagged the account and alerted other users they may have contacted.
We also have systems in place to monitor for any repeat attempts to register under different details.
