Dear Hub Performance Team
Remco is a TT specialist
Tadej is a GC rider with a very good TT

Probably? Cmon mate.

Remco is going to go down as the greatest ever Timetriallist when he’s retired. He’s in a different league to Tadej. The only time Tadej gets close is during a 3 week Tour or a proper mountain time trial. There is no comparison.

well I say "probably" because there are nuances to a career that is still quite young.

If Remco wants to win the TdF he would have to drop a bit of weight? This may then slow his TT down. Does he then live out the accoloade of greatest TT rider ever?

I don't deny he is a great time trialist but the best ever is a bit of a stretch for now. His road racing execution needs work despite winning the Olympics Road Race last year so the media promotion of he suddenly being the favourite for the Kigali Road Race was more than a bit premature

How is it that countries like Rwanda and Eritrea were able to field teams of 6 riders and we only had one single rider?  Did they get special concessions as developing nations, or could we have also fielded a team of 6, but just didn't have the support from our Federation to make it happen?

This came up in my mind as well. Is it a lack of interest by south african cyclists or lack of interest by Cycling SA?

I started following Byron after he was on the Zwift Academy and from his posts he's pretty much going this alone.  But I can't believe that we weren't at least able to field more men - the ladies had three.  Maybe the course just didn't suit our riders.

Spitting out wisdom here this morning.

We talking TT not winning the Tour or anything else and he finished 2nd in the road race yesterday? that would make be think he is a favourite no? Just like Del Toro being a favourite.
Both of their 1 day racing palmares also point to this.

Like him or not, Remco at present is the best TT of the generation and a threat to any bike race he enters.

Some special projects planned with Remco at Red Bull to go for the hour record? Some weird and wild TT bike that is not UCI legal!

Would be interesting the follow the improvements for Remco with him joining Red Bull.

He stays on the same equipment, so I would not expect anything different, both old and new teams ride the Specialized brand.

yes strip Pogacar out of the equation and he's probably the next best all rounder, no argument there.

My only contention is that the press wrote Pogacar off after his poor TT and basically placed the stripes on Remco without considering that they likely had very different focus in terms of prep and focus

Lack of financing would be my guess

Riders probably have to finance the whole trip themselves, and considering some riders will have trade team contracts to honour and the trade teams don’t care about world champs the contract that pays their salaries wins.

Id like to see the Tour de France bring back longer time trials just to make the competition a bit more interesting. It’s the only disclipline where Tadej would really be at a disadvantage and the longer the timetrial the bigger the gap to Remco. Even Jonas has beaten Pog in time trials. This would definitely make the tour much more competitive. However, Remco would still need to up his game in the mountains considerably. Again, he got dropped immediately on Mount Kigali.

Yes he did, not saying this is the only reason but when you saddle drops 1cm its pretty hard to put power down as a starting point. Not to suprised if there were issues there.

Did the saddle drop before the climb?
