On the right ! Why would you want it to be on the left if it is on the right on your bike ? Keep it simple .

Keep it simple you say............. dont understand your post.

If you only ride bicycles then whichever side you prefer. If you also ride a motorbike you are more likely to be comfortable with front on the right, especially if you do a lot of marshalling (need to control speed perfectly) or track (imagine feathering the wrong bike at over 100kmph)

There is no right brake for the right hand. Personal preference. It is also considered good manners to tell a friend if he takes your bike for a spin what lever is on what side of the handlebar...

I totally disagree, you never tell them, do you know how funny it is to see your mate go over the bars thinking the brakes were the other way around? I have witnessed this first hand with a mate, his girlfriend actually, was classic, we were even drunk at the time, oh the memories...

Front right on all bikes including motor bikes

Main reason on bikes is I use my right hand to fiddle around and adjust things, grab food from my back pocket and grab water bottles.Don't want to be hauling front brake with my left hand with my right off the bars

If you ride both road and MTB it makes sense to have the front brake on the left of your mtb to keep them the same. You don't want to grab the wrong brake if a car or person wonders in front of you.

That being said, I also commute on a motorbike everyday and have gotten used the brakes on the right. So I'm basically contradicting myself since one actually gets accustomed to the different setups over time.

It may have something to do with STI's or the MTB integrated shifter and brake lever, and the rear derailluer was always controlled on the right lever, so the rear brake then ended up on the right hand side too....... Just guessing
